It’s taking me all day to be settled enough to be able to post about yesterday’s results of the show.
Friday started off with the bitch classes and lollipop took second place in her class and Penny took fourth place in her class. Hank and Meeko ended up being the oldest dog and bitch at the national, and ribbons were presented to honor that. brisket was second place in veteran bitch Class, Hank won his veteran class. Miko and zippo both got ribbons in their classes, but I don’t remember which ones. When it was time for best of breed judging PorterHouse made the first cut, but not the last cut, violet showed OK, but she was being a little bit of a goofball however, the judge still really liked her, but didn’t end up using her. Ingrid showed Pinot for me and she was in the final lineup, Sherri and Jamie both helped me with Luna and she was in the final lineup, Felicia and Allyson both help handle Woody why I stayed on Rex and both of them were in the final lineup as well. Julie showed Bopeep and Julia took Hank in. The end results was that five dogs I bred was in the final lineup and one dog that I co-own. For me that felt really great that the six dogs made it to the very end of such a tough competition. in the end Julie and BoPeep won the breed, and now both of us have owned and bread in national specialty winner, which is definitely a bucket list item! to make such a wonderful experience even more wonderful both Pinot and Woody won an Award of Merritt. Hank and his offspring won the stud Dog Class. Brisket and her offspring won the brood bitch Class. And Porterhouse, Marrow and Brisket won extended generations. Wood and Pinot made a very award-winning brace and got second Pl., I was just so happy he did not follow through with his plan to breed Pinot while we were going around the ring . This national specialty has been so fulfilling for me, and I have just had a really wonderful time.
In herding today Willys had two cattle runs, and one sheep run, and he qualified on one of his cattle run and on his sheet run, we are officially in the running for the versatility competition and will be in the ribbons,, the rest of the weekend will determine what placement.
BoPeeps win was incredibly special to Julie and I because when we came up with the idea to do the litter, we decided that our pick Puppy from the litter would one day win a national specialty. For that dream to come true was incredible, and knowing how much Bopeep has brought joy into Julie‘s life made it even sweeter for me, especially because I know how much it has always been Julie’s goal to win the national. I’m just over the moon that this beautiful girl is the result of a plan that required a lot of teamwork and friendship. To share the success with someone that I love so dearly makes it even more important.
For Bopeep‘s brothers to also be in the final lineup with her was awesome. They are also very different than each other but also just really good dogs. Rex was so alive during the actual national competition. It was the craziest thing it’s like he found a whole new personality under a rock somewhere when he was out for a potty walk, and he brought his a game and was free stacking and getting excited and wagging his tail and it was such a cool experience all the way around. Julie thought she felt that Barney (BoPeeps grandpa that recently passed) was right there and I really think he was, and he told all three of his grandkids to bring their a game.
That’s all I got for today, I’m exhausted and I have one more day of herding starting at 730 in the morning, then a nap then the banquet and then it’ll be all about the journey home. All of the young dogs are wiped out with heads full of new information, all of them were seasoned. Dogs are wiped out from daily competition, and everybody’s ready to just be back at home.
