💙 More Than a Team. A Community. 🦁🚴

The first half of Day 2 of Homecoming Weekend reminds us just how incredible our Howard Lions family is.

This morning, teammates spread out across the county and beyond. Some proudly represented the club in the Howard High School Homecoming Parade, while others participated in cross-country meets, Scouts activities, and even tackled the trails at Deep Creek.

Tonight, many of our riders will reunite at the Homecoming Dance to celebrate school spirit and make more memories together. For our senior Roman, it marks his final Homecoming Dance, another reminder to cherish these moments while they last.

We're proud of every athlete who continues to represent the values of teamwork, commitment, and community wherever they go.

We want to share a fantastic article about one of the fellow teams in the Maryland Interscholastic Cycling League and really what this league is all about. To sum it up as Coach Aaron from the Garrett County Coyotes MTB Team is quoted as saying, "We want to help them (kids) to become the best version of themselves, not necessarily the best biker."

That’s what it’s all about!!

💙🦁 COMMUNITY. SERVICE. PRIDE. 🦁💙

The Howard Lions Cycling Team was out in full force tonight, giving back to our amazing Howard community by working the concession stand during the Homecoming football game!

With fans lining up all night long, our riders kept the food moving, the smiles flowing, and the energy high. It was a busy night, but this team handled it like they handle everything else... together, with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.

Congratulations to the Howard Lions Varsity Football Team on an incredible 28-0 victory! 🏈🔥

This is what makes our team special. We don't just ride bikes. We show up, serve, support, and strengthen the community that supports us.

Tonight wasn't about the miles. It was about the effort.

With a little rain earlier in the day and possible weather looming, the Howard Lions showed up ready to work. The team focused on quality over quantity, attacking intervals, ripping through hot laps, dialing in race starts, and finishing strong with hill repeats.

Every rider came hungry to improve and left wanting more.

To cap off a great night, Nakhila presented the Howard Heart Helmet to Will in recognition of his grit, determination, and outstanding effort throughout practice. A well-deserved honor and a reminder of what makes this team special.

Great work tonight, Lions. Keep showing up. Keep pushing. Keep growing. 🦁🚴💙

🐾💙 Putting in the Work! 💙🐾

Tonight was all about long, sustained efforts through the park, and our Howard Lions showed up ready to get after it. From the first pedal stroke to the final mile, everyone brought their game faces and hammered out the work.

The miles added up, the legs got heavy, and fatigue started to set in, but so did the smiles. Every athlete knows that nights like these build the fitness, confidence, and toughness needed for race day. With our next event just a couple of weeks away, the pride and determination on display tonight were impossible to miss.

At the end of practice, John passed the Howard Heart Helmet to Nakhila. She earned the honor through her dedication, effort, and commitment to stepping up to the starting line at the next race. She has put in the work, she is prepared, and she's ready to show her Lions' Pride!

Congratulations, Nakhila! We can't wait to cheer you on.

Have any bikes that you need to clear out of your garage or shed? Why not donate them to a great cause! The team is looking forward helping Free Bikes 4 Kidz Maryland again this year!

Start collecting your unused or unwanted bicycles, because our Collection Day is in three weeks! October 3, 9 AM - 2 PM at all Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services stations. Help us help a child in need have a happier, healthier, more independent life. We have a big warehouse to fill!

🚵‍♂️🔥 ANOTHER ONE FOR THE BOOKS! 🔥🚵‍♀️

The original plan? A two-hour drive for some trail time.

Mother Nature had threatened just a day ago, so the squad made the call to stay local and hit up Woodstock instead. And honestly... we're pretty glad we did! 💪

For a couple of our athletes, these trails were completely new territory. Did that slow them down? Not even a little. The skills they've been building all season were on full display as they tackled the trails with confidence, grit, and plenty of speed. 🚵💨

Just another awesome day of riding, laughing, learning, and making memories with incredible teammates. That's what Howard Lions Cycling Club is all about! 🦁💙

This ride also marked a special first as we awarded co-recipients of the Howard Heart Helmet!

Congratulations to John and Nora for earning today’s honor. Both riders attacked these "new-to-them" trails like they were their own backyard, showing confidence, determination, and fantastic trail awareness all ride long.

And a special shoutout to Nora, a future Lion who continues to represent the Bolts in a big way! We love seeing young riders step up, challenge themselves, and absolutely crush it. 💙⚡🦁

🔥 Back to Work! 🔥

After a week of fun on the trails, it was time to get back to work tonight! Hot laps were on the docket, and the team definitely turned up the heat.

Hot laps are a great opportunity for our coaches to evaluate riders' progress while letting the athletes do all the hard work for a change. 😉 After a solid 45 minutes of pushing the pace, there was still time for a shortened ride to cool down and enjoy the trails together.

The effort across the board was outstanding, making it a tough decision for Aydin when it came time to award the Howard Heart Helmet. With so many riders giving it their all, everyone made a strong case. In the end, the helmet was passed to Roman for his hard work, determination, and for helping push his teammates to be their best.

Great effort, great attitudes, and great teamwork all around.
