Recap and solutions.

We celebrate the wins, but also respect and reflect the losses!!

We had our first game of the season over the weekend, it was a very humbling and emotional result. Obviously not how we wanted to start, but along the way I saw grit, determination, commitment, passion, and competitive spirits for each other. We should never hide from our losses as they are an important part of how we learn to grow and get better ❤️‍🩹

First year in an 11 v 11 ⚽️ format, big field 🏟️, playing a little bit of older players. We are finding our way, we are learning, and we are honoring the game regardless of the outcome. We must reflect 🤔 and understand where we need to improve and work to help the team stay tuned in and remain competitive. The learning 📝 should never ever stop. Wins will come, losses will show up… but the dedication and sacrifices I make for this team will stay positive and continue to increase. It is the only way I know how to coach.

The college experience.

Recapping the last few weeks here. Our head coach took this first picture because it means a lot to us. The team has played two scrimmages and three official games thus far; this past Saturday we played our third game, against a program that has dominated the PSAC conference in the NCAA DII for a while now.

We faced West Chester University, AND our team was able to compete, contest, and maintained a 1-0 score for a full half and some minutes in the second half, eventually tired legs 🦵🏻and exhausted 😩 minds 🧠 took a toll. 13 players and the support of the injured 5 players accomplished a task - COMPETE

The team competed with warrior mentality, unbreakable spirit, and a desire to play for each other 100%. It was incredible to watch them compete at such a level, frustrate our opponent and really make them work… extremely proud of this team and all its members.

We are new 🆕 in the PSAC conference and learning, building block by block, gaining experience and confidence game by game. It will take time but we are committed to building a program we all can be proud of, a program that will compete and excel in the coming years.

Incredible and amazing performance by this group. They love to compete 💪🏼, is that simple; these girls powered through some adversities from low numbers of subs, some hot weather temperatures☀️🥵🌡️, our first year (for most of them) in 11 v 11 format, no designated goalkeeper 🧤 (scary at times), first ⚽️ game(s) of the season, they did it!!! They went undefeated 🗣️ — Four games four wins. Scoring seventeen goals, conceding only three 3️⃣, and keeping two 2️⃣ clean sheets…!!! 🥇🏆 👏🏻👏🏻

I try to have a plan 📝 for every game, always keeping the player 👤 at the center of what I do and how I coach. Trying to help them grow and develop in the game, while helping them maximize their strengths and abilities. This group is just so much in tune with the game and still wanting to learn and get better. I am so so proud of them!!

AFC Roma girls, a year ago we officially started our journey together. Today we went back to Gettysburg where we played our first games (and tournament) ever… I think this year was special and a good start to see how much you can accomplish.

We kick off our season today. First game and tournament of the year, game plan for first game ready to go. I am a bit nervous but excited to see them play and compete.

The main objective today for them is to compete, that is it. For me is to observe and adjust accordingly based on where we are at as a team playing in an 11 v 11 format.

Gotham FC - KHINTG

Last week I attended a workshop provided by Gotham FC called Keep Her In The Game. Tremendous insight on how to work with our female athletes 🧍🏻‍♀️⚽️ so they can experience positive and valuable coaching 🗣️.

I have started using some of the tools 🧰 they gave us, concepts they provided us coaches to maintain a positive environment where athletes feel confident about themselves. It is hard work 😓 to stay actively learning, engaging, leading by service, etc. BUT it is rewarding to see successes!

The season has just started, and can’t wait to see how much I can help my teams and players grow 📈 as much as individually 👤 but also as a team 👥

Assistant Coaching…

We travelled to upstate NY yesterday to have our first scrimmage of the season. Incredible experience and massive outcome for our team and student athletes; as an assistant coach I get to not only lead still but also I can focus on in-game note taking 📝 and data collection 📊 that can help us during game as well as after the game.

Learning, helping, supporting, and making sure I continue to lead by service in a different way.

Prepare always, adjust when needed. This week’s focus was build ups to advance forward. Our weekly sessions at AFC got cut short due to weather unfortunately. We also had to adjust activities BUT trying to keep the main objective intact.

My process is to get a session on paper with a main objective for the week, run it on the first day of the week, adjust and add different activities with the main objective in mind. At the end of the week i do a self assessment of how I coached the session(s) for that week.

I have been asking my players to use their Duktig Brand ⚽️📓 player notebook to do self assessment weekly, it is only fair I do the same. As a coach I have to set the example, be vulnerable by exposing what needs improvement, be self critical and come back stronger on the next session.

New season — it’s been a very busy couple weeks of pre-season soccer. This year I am very lucky to have the teams I have, from my Roma girls with Anthracite FC ⚒️ who now enter a season full of new challenges, to the newly promoted NCAA DII Lackawanna College Women’s Soccer team 🦅 who’s players start a new chapter in their soccer, and life, journey.

This season is going to be full of growth 📈, determination, selflessness, dedication, sacrifices. It’s going to test us and see how well we can lead, support, trust, set and follow high standards 📊.

The opportunity to support, to lead every player I coach, as well as learn from my fellow coaches is something I would not trade for anything at this moment!!

I got you, you got me, we got us… this has been my mantra 🕉️ since last year, and one that has helped me stay grounded and focused.

I am a professional soccer coach with over 15 years of experience working with youth players. My philosophy is to always put the players needs and development at the center of what I do.

I am currently coaching a girls team for a travel club in Scranton PA. The team is playing U13 category in the EDP league.
