THE LONGEST WRESTLING MATCH IN OLYMPIC HISTORY!

Imagine stepping onto the mat… and still being there 11 hours and 40 minutes later!

At the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, Martin Klein of Russia and Alfred Asikainen of Finland battled in a Greco-Roman middleweight semifinal that became an absolute war.

⏱️ No time limit.
🤼 No judges’ decision.
💪 The only way to win? Pin your opponent.

After nearly 12 hours of wrestling in the summer heat, Klein finally secured the pin and advanced.

Think you could survive a wrestling match that lasted 11 HOURS AND 40 MINUTES? 😳

McKendree University made history in March 2026 by winning the first official NCAA Women’s Wrestling team championship. The Bearcats edged Iowa 171–166 in Coralville, Iowa, behind individual titles from Yu Sakamoto, Cameron Guerin and Tristan Kelly. The inaugural championship also crowned the first 10 official NCAA women’s wrestling champions, marking a major milestone in the continued growth of collegiate women’s wrestling.

🤼🔥 COMMUNITY DAY WAS A SUCCESS!! 🔥🤼

Man, what a day! I just want to say THANK YOU to everybody who came out and supported our Community Day.

Seeing the kids, families, wrestlers, coaches and community all come together, have fun, eat, compete in games and just enjoy each other was exactly what this day was supposed to be about.

For me, this is bigger than wrestling. We’re trying to build something that our kids can be proud to be a part of and something our community can get behind and call their own.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped set up, brought food,volunteered, participated in the games, supported our wrestlers or simply showed up. Every bit of it mattered.

What a wonderful day for Wolverine Wrestling!!! Our program had an opportunity to showcase some of what we do & what we’re about to our community & we showed up & showed out!!! Watching our wrestlers pour into the future of a sport we all love was priceless!! We are soooo ready for wrestling season!!!

From working concessions at the first home football game honoring our military and first responders on the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 to working with the kids to raise awareness about the new wrestling club, our wrestlers showed out to prove its more than just putting in work on the mat. Supporting our school and community. Thank you to all the student athletes and parents that helped.
