Think you know everything about judo? 🥋

There’s much more to this martial art than throws and competitions. From the meaning behind the word “judo” to its Olympic history — swipe through to discover a few facts you may not have known ➡️

Did you know that judo originated in Japan in the late 19th century?

Its founder, Jigoro Kano, created judo based on traditional Japanese martial arts, but focused not only on fighting techniques, but also on the physical and moral development of a person. 🥋

Over time, judo spread far beyond Japan and became one of the most popular martial arts in the world. In 1964, it made its Olympic debut as a men’s sport.

Today, judo is much more than just fighting. It is about discipline, self-control, respect for your opponent, self-confidence, and continuous growth. 💪

Can you lose weight through judo? 🥋

Yes! Judo is an active full-body workout that keeps you moving, practicing techniques, sparring, and developing strength and endurance.

Regular training can help increase energy expenditure and maintain good physical fitness. When combined with a balanced diet, it can also support gradual weight loss.

The key is consistency, proper technique, and enjoying the process 💪
