What a great long weekend for the club!

Thursday night we enjoyed the opening night celebrations of the Ladies Match Races

Friday we were at to watch the celebrate and beat the Pirates!

While the game Saturday didn’t end how we were hoping, it was still cool to see the big house in a stripe out and perform at halftime!

Michigan needs our help! The "We Give Blood" competition is back for 2026. All alumni, fans, families and students, can donate blood at any blood drive or blood donation center in the U.S. to save lives and help put Michigan at the top of the leaderboard in this 18-school B1G competition. All of your favorites are back too, including a University of Michigan t-shirt and a chance to help Michigan win a $1 million grant for student or community health!

Register with the link below to receive a confirmation email with directions on how to schedule your blood donation with the local blood center in your area. The “We Give Blood” B1G competition ends on Dec. 4. The winning school is announced at halftime of the B1G Championship game. Thank you for helping to save lives and for being a Leader and Best. Come join the UMCGD next month for our glass blowing experience! We will be in Dearborn to see professionals blowing glass up close. This experince includes 2 drink tickets that allow you to choose beverages from various local brewers. The best part is that you get to keep the blue glass you choose to drink out of that was blown at the academy! Tours will also be available at the top of each hour.

Support Hamtramck Parks Conservancy (HPC) through maintenance activities at Veterans Park. The park is home to a variety of well-loved amenities, including the Historic Hamtramck Stadium, soccer arena, sand volleyball courts, tennis courts and practice wall, and playgrounds. Please join us in some much-needed improvement and beautification activities - such as weeding garden beds and planters, measuring and inventorying equipment, and generalized maintenance and beautification -- which will keep our park as a gem of Hamtramck!

The Club had a great time this evening getting ready for the upcoming football season at our annual kickoff dinner! Ford’s Garage in Dearborn was a great place to host our panel and discuss all things Michigan Football. We had a packed house with great food and drinks enjoyed by all.
Special thanks to Ira Weintraub, Seth Fisher, Isaiah Hole and Derick Hutchinson for giving their insights to the upcoming 26/27 season.

Kintsugi Village is a gathering place in Detroit where people learn, create and grow together through shared experiences rooted in curiosity and connection. Located in Detroit’s innovation district, Kintsugi brings together education, art, food, nature and community into one connected ecosystem. During your volunteer experience, you’ll help activate and care for our garden spaces through planting, preparing beds, weeding, watering and general beautification efforts that support our students, families and broader community. Kintsugi Village is located in Corktown across from Newlab. They have their own parking for volunteers! Please drive slowly and carefully as you enter.

The U of M Club of Greater Detroit is proud to bring you the 2026 Kickoff Dinner on Monday, August 31st at Ford’s Garage in Dearborn.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Tailgate food will be served, along with a cash bar, and Michigan Football video highlights.

Tickets are $50

New Head Coach Kyle Whittingham will try to return the 2026 Michigan Football team to their championship ways.
