It doesn’t matter what setting I’m in, I’m always going to preach defense FIRST ‼️

Defense is the ugly side of basketball most coaches don’t talk about. It only becomes important when teams start scoring on them but in reality, it sets the tone for how everything else is done. 👆

Want easy offense, PLAY GREAT DEFENSE 💪

In Him, is who I have confidence in! My mentor Jim Good calls it God-fidence. This is my foundation behind why I do everything I do. I serve a higher purpose in this life. This is where my strength, wisdom, courage and abilities come from.

We gather over a game that we love but it’s just that, a game.

The connections, relationships, and bonds that we form last way longer than basketball. This is why I give him praise because if it weren’t for Him, we wouldn’t have the chance to be together.

When we combine these two factors; God-fidence and real relationships, we become unbreakable. For me, this is what life is all about.

No board? No problem 🤝

Sometimes you just have to be creative with what you have. To be honest, this is more impressive on the players part!

They were able to visualize what I was teaching & execute it to perfection without a coaching board. Players, make sure you have the ability to do this.

If you’re considered a high IQ player, you should be able to retain information from your coach and execute their vision with words alone. If not, make sure you sharpen your IQ by studying the game.

High IQ beats talent when talent fails to have IQ 💯

Consistency > Intensity ‼️

This who tell you any differently haven’t experienced success. To win at anything in life, it requires a certain level of consistency. The higher the level, the more consistency is required.

In this game, we needed to stay consistent from start to finish. We had big moments that led to success but our inability to maintain is what ultimately caused our downfall.

So when you ask yourself what is the secret to success? The answer is always, stay patient, stay honest, and stay consistent 🙏

Special shoutout to the This Is Miami Pro for putting together another awesome season. Though we can a bit short of our goal, it was an amazing experience for our program.

Having a roster of professional, college, and high school guys come together over the game we love is something special to be acknowledged. This game is bigger than basketball, it’s about the relationships we build along the way 🤝

As a first year program in the Miami Pro, I’d say we did a great job. From beating NBA caliber talent to having the eventual champs on the ropes.. it’s safe to say that we earned respect from our peers in the league.

Time to stay on the same mission by impacting lives that extend further than hoops and fostering relationships that last a lifetime.

I’m the type of coach that gives freedom as long as they are handling it responsibly… on this occasion, they were defending like mad men and limiting them to one shot.. so they earned the freedom to play however they wanted on offense 💯🤷

Tonight, we aim to do the same thing. Talk. Defend. Rebound.

Every game has a different problem to solve… especially in this pro-am setting!

Where teams have less time to prep/scout, these mid-game adjustments are the key to wins in the This Is Miami Pro 💯

How your team responds to these types of problems is what makes you successful.. for a team that can respond to adversity and then lead them so they can feel free to be themselves out there 🙏
