Sixteen years ago, during the final weeks of her mentor Pat McChesney's life, Pat gave Ruth one final challenge: "Ruth, don't stop helping these young kidz. Even if you want to help thousands, promise me you'll help one kid at a time." That promise became her life's mission.

Today, after more than 50 years of teaching, coaching, mentoring, and inspiring, Ruth continues to pour that same energy, passion, enthusiasm, and love into developing kidz, empowering parents, educating teachers, and mentoring youth coaches. Every show is filled with authentic stories, meaningful lessons, laughter, and inspiration that remind us all why sports matter.

🎉 Today, we proudly welcomed 8 new GoKids Youth Sports™ Skills Trainers during our 2026 GoKids Youth Sports™ Skills Trainer Certification Course, held in conjunction with The Art of Coaching Volleyball Clinic at Coppell High School. 🏐

The day was filled with energy, learning, laughter, collaboration, and a shared passion for making a difference in the lives of kidz. From the classroom to more than 2–3 hours of hands-on, on-court training, our newest Skills Trainers embraced the GoKids Youth Sports™ methodology with enthusiasm and purpose.

A special thank you to The Art of Coaching Volleyball for providing the opportunity to showcase our OPEN On-Court Training Session, where coaches from around the country observed our innovative teaching methods in action.

Over the years, I have been blessed to cross paths with thousands of amazing people through volleyball, youth sports, education, and life.

Some arrived when I needed guidance. Some challenged me to grow. Others walked beside me for only a season, while a special few have become lifelong friends and mentors.

I've learned not every relationship is meant to last forever—and that's okay. Every person leaves us with something valuable if we're willing to learn from the experience.

This beautiful poem reminds me that every connection has purpose. Whether someone entered my life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime, I am grateful for the lessons, the memories, the laughter, and the journey we shared.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of my story. You have helped shape the person, coach, teacher, and mentor I continue striving to become.

"Someone asked me what it means to be an American...

To me, being an American means believing that no dream is too big and no challenge is too great when you're willing to work for it. It means having the freedom to learn, to teach, to serve, and to make a difference in the lives of others.

I have been blessed to spend my life helping young people discover confidence, discipline, and a love for sport. America gave me that opportunity. It allowed me to dream as an athlete, lead as a coach, innovate as an educator, and continue giving back to future generations.

Being an American isn't about where we come from—it's about how we lift others, respect our differences, cherish our freedoms, and leave our communities better than we found them.

Every child deserves the opportunity to dream. Every parent deserves the opportunity to believe. Every coach has the opportunity to inspire.

That is what being an American means to me.
