Rajas Con Queso Egg Rolls. Peking Duck Tacos. Birria Baos. Phorritos. No, these aren't the results of a crash between two food delivery drivers. They're menu items at Cris and John, a Mexican Vietnamese fusion restaurant that has been getting rave reviews for years and drawing huge crowds. When MADEATS tried to visit them at their old location the wait was over an hour long and parking was scant, so we just gave up. Since then, they've moved to a new, larger location with plenty of parking, so let's try again. BYOB.
As always, MADEATS predictably prefers but does not require an RSVP. Karen Brack, 214.477.1151, [email protected].

I think it's safe to call Dallas a pizza town. Just about any style you can think of is available here, along with some you've probably never heard of. New Haven pizza? Yes? Anybody? Some MADEATerS are nodding their heads because they've been to Fortunate Son. And we're going back this month, so join us and you can be a nodder, too.
In addition to pizza, Fortunate Son also serves Italian pastas, entrees, salads and desserts. (Ooh! Cannoli or tiramisu? The struggle is real.) And there are delicious options for vegetarians. If you have trouble finding a parking space on the street, there is a parking garage a block to the east and a bit north of the restaurant.
If you've been around a while, you know the drill. MADEATS optimistically requests but does not require your RSVP. Without one, though, you may not be able to sit at the cool kids table.

And I promise to show up at the right restaurant this time.
Fortunate Son – Garland TX – Beer Garden and New-Haven Style Pizza House New Haven, CT is basically the pizza capital of the US. People disagree on this obviously, but we feel as though they’re doing it better there than anywhere else. Pizza is infused in the culture of the city…so many pizzerias and so little time!

The Lunar New Year of the Fire Horse starts Feb. 17th. In honor of the occasion, we're going to dim sum favorite, Kirin Court in Richardson.
Dim sum primarily comes from Southern China,
specifically, Guangdong Province (Canton) and its capital, Guangzhou, as well as Hong Kong, where it evolved in teahouses as snacks for travelers along the Silk Road, becoming a signature part of Cantonese cuisine known for delicate, bite-sized dishes. While Cantonese style is most famous, other regions like Shanghai (with soup dumplings) and Sichuan also have unique dim sum traditions.
As usual, RSVPs are forcefully requested, but not required. Karen Brack, [email protected], 214.477.1151.
