Park Cities Quail

We were saddened to hear the news of the passing of our 2012 T. Boone Pickens Lifetime Sportsman Award recipient Ted Turner today. Ted passed away at the age of 87. While he was known for being a pioneer in the cable television industry, he was also a well renowned conservationist.

He was chairman of the Turner Foundation, an independent family foundation which supports efforts for improving air and water quality, developing a sustainable energy future to protect the earth’s climate, safeguarding environmental health, protecting and maintaining wildlife habitat, and developing practices and policies to curb population growth rates; and co-founder of Ted’s Montana Grill restaurant chain, which operates 44 locations nationwide.

Ted was also chairman of Turner Enterprises, Inc. a private company which manages his business interests, land holdings and investments, including the oversight of 2 million acres in 12 states and in Argentina, and more than 55,000 bison head.

Over the last 20 years, Park Cities Quail Coalition has raised $20+ million that has contributed to quail research, conservation, and education programs in Texas.
