The Cowboys’ defense got exposed too often in 2025, and with Micah Parsons gone, the secondary has even more weight on its shoulders. Dallas cannot afford another year of busted coverages and easy throws over the middle.
That is why Christian Parker’s praise matters. Michael Irvin saw it too when he came through the facility. The early word is that this rookie has the kind of range, instincts, and versatility this defense has been missing. Now it is about how fast that can show up on Sundays for a unit that was getting picked apart all last season.

Washington has been down this road before, and Cowboys fans know how it usually looks from our side of the field. When a rival starts chasing a flashy fix in June, it can turn into the kind of move that costs more than it gives.
Dallas does not need to panic about the division right now. The Cowboys have the better receiver room, and that gap matters when the games start counting in the NFC East. If the other side wants to gamble on another big-name swing, let them. We have seen enough of those choices to know how they can play out.

Dak Prescott getting through minicamp is a good sign, but the line took a real hit with a season-ending loss in the middle of all this. That is the kind of blow that makes every Cowboys fan look twice at the depth chart before training camp. Dallas cannot afford much more attrition up front.

Brian Schottenheimer has been around this team long enough to know a good offseason does not win anything in August. Still, the Cowboys sound sharper and more connected right now, and that new voice on defense has clearly brought some heat to practice. Dallas fans have seen plenty of spring optimism before, so the real test comes when camp gets rolling.

Brian Schottenheimer showed a side of himself that Cowboys fans do not usually see, and it came in a quiet marriage question that nearly caught him off guard. After years of hearing polished coach speak, that kind of raw honesty stands out. In a league full of offseason noise, it made him feel a lot more like a real man than a sideline voice.

George Pickens in Dallas already has people talking about how tight this receiver room really is behind CeeDee Lamb. After 30 years watching this team, I know the front office does not even think about moving a talent like that unless things have gone badly off the rails.

Dak Prescott got through minicamp, but the bigger worry in Dallas is what happened up front. The Cowboys cannot afford to keep losing bodies on the offensive line before training camp even starts.
A season-ending hit at backup center changes the feel of this whole room. That is the kind of setback that makes every rep matter a little more in July. Dallas needs the line to settle down fast, because the margin for error is already thin.

Day 86 takes me right back to that 2017 stretch when Dak and Zeke had this offense rolling and opponents could not slow it down. On the road, Dallas looked like a team that expected to win every snap, and that is a great feeling to remember.
That was the kind of blowout Cowboys fans loved because it felt clean and complete. The defense fed off it, the offense kept coming, and the whole team played like a contender that knew exactly who it was.

If Dallas gets serious about adding a proven linebacker, this is the kind of move that could finally steady that side of the ball. After 30 years of watching this defense, I know the Cowboys still need one more real difference-maker in the middle, and a bidding fight for a veteran like this would tell us plenty.
