Some dogs chase ducks. Some dogs run the Capitol. Every government building needs a Chief Morale Officer.
After all… he is a “Captain”

She was never just a “training dog.”
She was the first one I was trusted with to figure it all out—trial, error, and everything in between.
I thought I was there to teach her… but looking back, she taught me way more than I ever could’ve given her.
Timing, patience, pressure, feel—she built a lot of what I know now without ever meaning to.
Crazy to think how far we’ve both come since this moment.

I know we’ve posted a lot about puppies recently, but we’ve got another crüe going home this weekend.
Our Will x Honey litter will be going to their new homes Saturday. Unfortunately this will be Honey’s last litter here at SOK Lone Star due to birthing complications from this past pregnancy. It’s a bittersweet moment as Honey was our first import that was brought directly to Texas. She’s been with us since 2021 and she’s been apart of building the foundation for SOK Lone Star. Anyone who has met Honey knows just how sweet (and soft coated) she is. She is an extremely driven dog in the field, and we have seen her throw that characteristic in her litters time and time again. We think this litter will be the exact same. Driven, biddable, and overly eager to please.

Puppy pickup day is always bittersweet around here.
So proud of this litter and the amazing dogs they’re already becoming. We can’t wait to watch them grow, learn, and thrive in their new homes. Thank you to all of the families trusting us with your new best friend and newest family member.

Sometimes the future of a duck dog looks a whole lot like this.
Big kennel. Tiny puppy. Zero clue what’s going on.
But every great one starts somewhere.

The “off switch” gets talked about a lot in the retriever world… but this is what it actually looks like.
One picture is all drive, intensity, and purpose — charging back with a bird like it’s the only thing that matters. The other is the exact same dog minutes later, sitting calmly while a little kid wraps their arms around him.
That balance doesn’t happen by accident. It’s one of the biggest things we value in our program. We want dogs that can absolutely crush it in the field, handle pressure, stay focused, and work with confidence — but also know how to settle down, be gentle, and fit naturally into everyday life at home.
A great retriever shouldn’t just have a “go” button. They need an “off” button too.
That combination of drive, biddability, stability, and temperament is what makes these dogs so special to us. High level hunting companions that are just as happy being part of the family.

We’re only 1 week away from our Huck x Aspen litter going home!! We can’t wait to see how fiery these little fellas are when they grow up!
Huck is a gentleman in the field. Driven as a purpose-built machine. The kind of male that leaves his mark in every pup he throws.
Aspen is a High-octane and full of fire in the field type of dog—she doesn’t turn it off, she just turns it up when it matters. Smart, biddable, and eager to work with her handler every step of the way.

Locked in. Eyes forward. One cue at a time.
Building focus, trust, and control — right where it matters.
It’s the “Bear” necessities.
