www.csequestrian.com Marian Bickers is CornerStone Equestrian's owner and trainer.

She has a passion for her lessons and horses to succeed in a healthy, safe, and rewarding way. She has trained for several Gold Medal riders including, Ron Smeets from the Netherlands, and Lisa Smit. In 2009 she worked in Holland breaking and training Olympic hopefuls, horses out of or related to Ferro, Sister de Jeu, and Gribaldi. Marian also rode in college, showing for North Georgia’s IHSA team. While at North Georgia she received her degree in education. She taught lessons at Seldom Rest Stables for 8 years under Tracy Wilson. Through her showing and training experience she has adopted a training method that empowers the horse to become more supple and on the aids. This, in turn, leads to a more pleasurable riding experience. Currently, Marian is the coach for Mountain View Equestrian team and Hebron Equestrian team as well as having independent riders for several schools on her IEA team. The Bouckaert show over the weekend was not for the faint of heart! We started with a beautiful and fun cross-country schooling Friday. But Saturday was another story.

The sky opened up in the morning and stayed that way. Our riders, ponies, and Coach Kelsie did all the things in the rain. And it wasn’t a romantic soft misting rain, either. It was an in-your-face aggressive downpour with limited visibility for most of the day. But everyone survived and did great!

What a weekend for Cornerstone Equestrian at the American Eventing Championships at the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park!

Carrigan and Goose came out swinging on day one with an impressive 29.8% dressage score and never gave up that lead through the rest of the weekend. They finished as Reserve Champions in the Beginner Novice Junior division - an incredible result at Carrigan's very first AEC!

Chloe and Hermes had a tougher start in dressage, but they didn't let one test define their weekend. They came back with a perfect cross-country round and finished with a beautiful stadium round on the final day. Watching them regroup, stay focused, and finish strong was just as rewarding as seeing them on the scoreboard.

Behind both riders were coaches Marian and Kelsie, who spent the entire weekend juggling horses, riders, schedules, course walks, warm-ups, pep talks, and approximately a million other things - all while making it look seamless!

Congratulations to Carrigan, Chloe, Goose, Hermes, Marian, Kelsie, and the entire Cornerstone team on an unforgettable AEC weekend. What a milestone for our barn!

A fun show weekend at GDCTA Summer Finals! Lots of ribbons and year-end qualifying scores to celebrate. Huge congrats to all our CSE riders and coaches!

But, really, it’s what happens outside the ring that keeps us waking up at 5AM day after day - the growing bonds between horses and riders, the enthusiastic cheers from families and the unwavering support from our coaches. And, of course, just spending the weekend and making memories with the best barn family!

RIP Fergie 2006ish-2026
Tracy and I found Fergie at the Gwinnett County Animal shelter in 2009. She was extremely timid and wouldn’t let anyone touch her. I wasn’t sure how old she was, but I thought wow this cat is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. I left the shelter without her and as we drove towards home. Tracy looked at me with tears in my eyes and turned the car around to go get her and 7 other cats that were scheduled to be euthanized later that day.

She lived with me in the camper trying to get her use to Humans. It didn’t work, so she became one of Seldom Rests barn cats. She was friendly with only one person at the barn, Stella. Stella Sutton, Granny, was the one person who could touch Fergie. After Stella passed, Fergie wanted to continue her barn life so she came to Cornerstone.

No one could touch her but she was always ready for food no matter what time. One day in 2023 I walked into the barn and Dr. Gabriel was petting her. I was shocked and after that day she let all of us pet her.

Her last few years she enjoyed Chick Fil A on a weekly basis, all the wet cat food she wanted, and laying around watching over the barn entrance.

She will missed and always loved. She was laid to rest in the shade by the dressage arena.

Cornerstone riders had an awesome day at the Big Cheese Schooling Show on Saturday! Great rides and pretty ribbons all around despite the nearly 90°F heat and 90% humidity!
