Masters Division Expos Walk It Off Against Reds

It came down to the wire on Monday at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, in the North Texas Amateur Baseball League Quarterfinal as the Expos grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 13-12, over Reds. The Expos were down 12-11 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Mike Perez singled, scoring two runs.
The regular season runner-up Expos collected 10 hits and Reds had 17 in the high-scoring affair.
The Reds got on the board in the first inning after Sean Clark singled, scoring one run.
Richard Boring singled to center field on a full count, which helped the Expos tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
The Reds flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring eight runs on eight hits to take the lead, 9-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Mike Rosener that drove in two.
Masters Expos flipped it right back in the bottom of the fourth, scoring nine runs on five hits to take the lead, 10-9. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Josh Claudio that drove in two.
Reds reclaimed the lead in the top of the fifth when Ron Pirkle doubled, scoring one run, and Daniel Washington singled, scoring two runs.
Then with one out the Expos made the score 13-12 in the bottom of the fifth after Washington induced Chris Faulkner to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Perez singled, scoring two runs.
Perez earned the win for Masters Expos. Jr Roberts stepped on the hill first for Reds. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and six runs (four earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking two.
Boring drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Expos with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-2 on the day. Claudio, Perez, and Boring each collected two hits for the Expos. Mark Shaw paced the Expos with two walks.
Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. The Expos ran wild on the base paths, tallying four stolen bases for the game. Perez stole two bases. The Expos turned one double play in the game.
For the Reds, Marc Bouvier, Rosener, and Pirkle each collected three hits for Reds. Rosener and Clark each drove in two runs for Reds. Reds also ran wild on the base paths, collecting five stolen bases for the game.
Next up for the Expos is the Semi-Final game vs the regular season leaders the Spirits at Coppell Softball/Baseball Complex. First pitch at 730.
The Expos have slated Mike Perez and the Spirits Mike Sopocy.
