☠️ THE CEMETERY SETUP ☠️

We’ve got a couple of jumbo boars working this new spot — one pushing 280 lbs and another that should break 300.

Last time we hunted here, the big boar stayed just outside the light, feeding around the edges until almost daylight. That doesn’t work too well when we’re trying to capture everything on camera. 😂

So I broke out my latest invention… the Corn Stopper 2000. 😂

Nothing fancy — a piece of flashing, a pair of tin snips and about 15 minutes. I made this one taller and doubled it up so the c***s can’t bend it. Now instead of throwing corn everywhere, it drops exactly where I want it — right underneath the feeder and in our best lighting.

I’ve actually been doing this to my tripod feeders for probably 20 years. It keeps the feed concentrated, but there’s another big advantage: corn hitting that metal is LOUD.

On a quiet night, that dinner bell can carry a LONG way.

Add THE REMOTE and I can spin the feeder while we’re already sitting in the stand and call anything within earshot toward the setup.

Now we just need that 300+ pounder to cooperate. 👀🐗

The hogs beat us to the Shack Blind. 🐗

We heard them before we ever made it around the blind, so we used the Shack Blind to stay hidden and slowly slipped into position under the green lights.

We got close… really close.

Then the blue nock tells the rest of the story. 🔵🏹

We called this buck “Tumor Chin” — pretty easy to see why. He’d carried that growth on his chin for as long as I can remember, and I believe he was around 6½ years old in this video.

Now for the part everybody will have an opinion on… 👀🏹

We had JUST gotten into the blind when this old buck appeared — a deer we had NEVER seen in person before.

I barely had time to get the camera rolling…

What happened next was absolutely unbelievable. 😳

Would you have passed this buck? 🦌

This was a wild, low-fence Texas Hill Country buck that we decided to let walk. He was already an incredible deer, but he showed every indication that with one more year, he could become an absolute buck of a lifetime.

We decided to roll the dice and give him another year.

Unfortunately, this was the last time we ever laid eyes on him.

That’s the gamble you take with a wild, free-ranging buck. You never know what another year might bring—or whether you’ll ever see him again.

This one got exciting FAST! 😳🏹

Under the green lights, the slow-mo caught the arrow flight perfectly… but what happened next definitely wasn’t part of the plan. He turned and came straight toward us, hit the ladder to our stand, and left the arrow laying against it. When we climbed down, he was only about 7–10 yards away.

Definitely one of those hunts we won’t forget! 🏹🟢

Getting close is the name of the game. 🟢

With the wind right and a quiet approach, this setup lets us slip right in behind the green light without the hogs ever knowing we’re there.

Sometimes we walk in behind it. Sometimes we’re already waiting in “The Shack.” 😂 Either way, it’s one more tool we use to get up close after dark.
