As she explores running and movement, TheeDeanietheyogini (Medals 2 the Mat) has continued to evolve her goals to align with her happiness and age. She sits with Safe Space Running to talk about the older runners / walkers and things the community should look out for to ensure everyone feels like they belong

Big announcement!

Safe Space Running will have a space (ha) at the Grandview Yard Celebration area, but we are mixing things up. In part, we wanted to make sure that we acknowledge the MANY clubs and orgs that prep many of the runners/walkers for these big days. One day is often comprised of many days of training fostered by our local walk/run communities

Stop by the Safe Space Running tent on Sunday to connect with fellow runners, learn about clubs in Central Ohio, and most importantly celebrate yourself and others!

Trey wanted to have a community that was more than just miles. He wanted others to feel like they have community to rely on beyond fitness. In such, Good Motion Run Club was formed to show that theres more to group runs than just the run.

Safe Space Running held its quarterly meetup with local run, walk, and fitness orgs to network and share best practices with one another. This quarter’s theme was around “Sustaining a Healthy Club”. Our panel talked their experiences about inclusion, safety, retention, and assistance in running a club for longevity and health of their clubs.

Redemption can take many forms. For Collin Chartier , once ranked 11th in triathlons but suspended for doping, it became outreach. This has culminated into running from Boulder Colorado to Washington DC in collaboration with Herren Project for recovery and addiction awareness.

As part of his route, he stopped through Columbus Ohio to connect with local agencies and a few run clubs to connect and allow others to share their recovery journey.

Christine Guerrero wears hard work and dedication on her sleeve. She’s pursued excellence on the course and often has become a beacon of representation for BIPOC where often there’s not many that look like her in the elite field. Safe Space Running talks with her to learn more about her experience, the art of pivoting, and her influence to many runners, including the host.
