Every sports fan needs a theme song. Every bar needs a theme song. Every football team needs a theme song. So here is our theme song for the sports fan who goes to the Overtime Sports Bar & Grill to watch the Chicago Bears on the huge 12 foot TV screen. It's called, "Game Day At Overtime". I put it together on Songer so I could put music to words.

Pre-Season Week 2 didn't go well as far as win/loss goes, but the Bears got a chance to let guys play that may be fighting for some of the last positions open before the Day Of The Turk. That's August 30th by 6:00 Eastern Time, the day the team is trimmed down to the final 53. The Bears decided to play starters so they could determine some stats going into the regular season. It had been announced that none of the first string would start, but players gonna play.

The offense only got 2 of 14 3rd down plays and the defense allowed 6 of 13 on 3rd downs. The Bears commited 11 penalties. Overall it may be a learning experience, but these will be the guys coming in to play when first stringers are injured or out for whatever other reason. None the less, it is a pre-season game and it did provide opportunities.

Next week (Saturday) we play the Tennessee Titans in Nashville at the Nissan Stadium. Kickoff is at 4 PM

This was the first meme I made for this page back in 2009. There were no pick and click memes available back then, so everything had to be hand made with Photoshop or GIMP. I made this meme because at the time, the Overtime was a Steelers bar. We had to watch the Bears games in the game room. There were only 24 seats available, but soon we had many more people than seats. When some of the Steeler fans were ejected for fighting, a lot of the Steelers fans left for other bars. The Bears fans moved out into the main room and after a while we had more Bears fans than Steeler fans and we took over the Big TV. The bar had to evolve over time, because when Dan and Laurie bought the bar, it was well established as a Steelers bar. I had gone there with a relative to watch a game one time. When the Prellbergs bought the bar, it was with a dream to turn it into a Chicago Sports Paradise. They changed the menu to Chicago dishes (good plan) and hung all of the Bears flags, jerseys, and pennants on the walls. It slowly caught on and we were all wishing it would just become the bar they dreamed of. It was totally understandable that Dan had to fill as many seats as he could in order to keep it profitable, so we Bears fans were feeling understated for the first few years. This year will be my 18th season as a loyal Overtime Bears fan. I've seen many Bears fans come and go over those years and I miss those who have because of transfers or other opportunities. One of the greatest things about the Overtime is the sense of family every patron and employee feels. I can hardly wait for the season to begin.
