Conn
The Historic Conn Instrument Company Charles Gerard Conn was the patriarch of musical instrument manufacturing in Elkhart, Indiana. The business was renamed C.G.
In 1873, following a brawl in a bar which resulted in a split lip, C.G. Conn developed a brass mouthpiece with a rubber rim. Conn converted an old sewing machine to a lathe and set-up a shop building these mouthpieces. In 1875, a French instrument maker named Dupont began repairing instruments in Conn’s shop. After watching him work for a few days, Conn believed he could build his own instrument.
For Kelvin Chan, what sets the Conn 88HSGXCL trombone apart is its “𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯; 𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥, 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘯 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴.”

Educators put the new Conn CEU411 to the test during the recent Conn Selmer Institute Reading Band.
Its four-valve design improves intonation and extends low range, and the medium bore is easier to control, making it a great fit for advancing students (and their teachers!).
