📢 Closing On-Water The Remainder Of Lake Season 📢

First, my heart is with everyone who has been impacted by the flooding, especially those who have lost lives, homes, belonging, and a sense of security. Let's continue to be a SUPer community by lending a hand wherever you can!

Not only has our reservoir's water levels rose due to the flooding but has been contaminated by agricultural run off, field overflow, and urban stormwater with sewer that has entered through the Cicero Creeks, which flow from the White River into Morse, back to the White River.

The Hamilton County Health Department originally paused water testing at Morse Beach and Park for safety, but then tested last Friday to open before the triathlon. Since that is on the opposite side of the lake where I launch, I paddled myself to test water safety on my routes this past Sunday.

Due to large trees being down, heavy tree debris, algae film, and other contamination around my launch point in and around paths, it's not only difficult to paddle, but unsafe and unenjoyable. Unfortunately, I am making the difficult decision to close the remainder of the season to let Mother Nature recover and for your safety; which is my number one priority.

I want to thank those of you who have been SUPer flexible, patient, kind and understanding with not only myself, but Mother Nature when it came to rescheduling and now cancelling paddleboard experiences--even multiple times. I'm so thankful to have you apart of my Stand Up community and I look forward to paddling with you starting May 1, 2027!

📢 Another Lake Update 📢

As the water continues to recede, I know many of us are ready to get back on the lake, unfortunately, we aren't there quite yet.

Because of the large amount of agricultural runoff, field overflow, and urban stormwater that entered Cicero Creek (flowing into Morse) during the flooding, the Hamilton County Health Department is treating the water as a high risk of E. coli and pathogenic contamination until it can be properly tested.
"Water samples are currently projected to be collected Thursday, August 27, with results likely not available until around Monday, August 31. Morse Beach and Park will remain closed until the water is tested and deemed safe".

I feel it's best for Standing Up Pretty to do the same.

I've seen wildlife displaced, fish jumping as they are searching for cleaner water, and a significant amount of debris floating throughout the lake. These are good reminders that even though the water may look better, our lakes, creeks, and river are still recovering.

So please continue to stay off the water for now. Your safety is always first priority to me.

My heart is still with everyone affected by the flooding, and I'm so grateful for my S.U.P. community's patience, understanding, kindness, and flexibility.

I'll keep watching the conditions and official updates closely, and I'll let you know as soon as it's safe to get back out there!

📢 Emergency Order + Message from S.U.P. 📢
With the flooding affecting our community and surrounding areas, I want to share an important reminder about staying safe around the water.

"Hamilton County has issued an emergency order prohibiting recreational travel—including kayaking, canoeing, tubing, and swimming—on the White River through August 25, 2026, due to dangerous currents, debris, and structural hazards. Emergency services are also asking everyone to stay out of floodwaters, local creeks, and swollen reservoirs until conditions return to normal."

Yes, this includes paddleboarding! Even as the water begins to recede, that doesn't mean our waterways are safe yet.

My heart is with everyone who has been impacted by the flooding, especially those who have lost homes, belongings, and a sense of security. Right now, I believe the best thing we can do is stay off the water, look out for one another, and lend a hand wherever we can. Whether that's volunteering, donating supplies, supporting a local organization, or simply checking in on a neighbor.

I will continue watching the emergency orders and water conditions closely and will make decisions about getting back on the lake with one thing in mind: safety first, always!

Our hearts are with everyone affected by the flooding in our community and surrounding areas. For the safety of everyone on and around the water, please stay off the lake until conditions are safe.

I also want to send a huge thank you to everyone who has been so patient and understanding as we've had to cancel or postpone paddleboard reservations. I know you're excited to get on the water, but I truly appreciate your flexibility while Mother Nature does her thing.
