Manute Bol was unlike any player the NBA had ever seen. Standing 7 feet 7 inches tall with an estimated 8 foot 6 inch wingspan, he turned the paint into a no fly zone. His reach was so extraordinary that shots most players thought were safe often ended up being swatted away.
Even the great Michael Jordan had to adjust when facing Bol. Early on, Jordan occasionally attacked the rim the same way he did against other defenders, only to find Bol’s impossibly long arms waiting for him. Rather than continuing to challenge him directly, Jordan did what made him one of the greatest players ever.
He adapted.
Instead of forcing layups over Bol, Jordan began using pump fakes, quick changes of direction, pull up jump shots, fadeaways, and angles that kept Bol from using his full reach. He learned to make Bol leave his feet before finishing or to score before Bol could recover. Jordan didn’t beat Bol by jumping higher. He beat him by thinking faster.
That matchup became a lesson in greatness. Manute Bol showed that extraordinary physical gifts can disrupt even the best players. Michael Jordan showed that talent alone is not enough. The greatest athletes recognize a challenge, adjust, and find another way to win.
Sometimes the difference between good and great is not strength or size. It is the willingness to adapt when your first plan no longer works.

Greatness isn’t given. It’s earned.
Six championships. Countless memories. One legacy that changed basketball forever.
The standard wasn’t created by opinions. It was built by Michael Jordan. 🐐💍💯
Do you believe MJ is still the GOAT?
During the 1991-92 season, Michael Jordan was at the peak of his powers, winning MVP, Finals MVP, and leading the Bulls to their second straight championship.
But even legends run into other legends.
In January 1992, Hakeem Olajuwon and Vernon “Mad Max” Maxwell handed Chicago one of its rare defeats, with Hakeem denying MJ’s potential game winner in the closing seconds.
Even the greatest were tested. 🐐💯
Who gave Michael Jordan the toughest challenge of his career?
Back in 1994, Scottie Pippen absolutely destroyed Patrick Ewing with one of the coldest dunks ever and then turned around and told Spike Lee to sit down! 😭
Knicks fans have never recovered 😂

Michael Jordan was asked who the GOAT is… and his answer wasn’t what most people expected.
Instead of naming himself, MJ explained that every generation builds on the one before it. The players of today learned from the players before them, just as he learned from those who came before him.
Whether you think it’s MJ, LeBron, Kobe, or someone else, it’s hard not to respect that perspective.

This one might start a debate 👀
Kobe said something to MJ most players never would…
Kobe never wanted to be the next Michael Jordan…he wanted to prove he could stand beside him.
That’s what made their relationship different.
One was the blueprint.
The other was obsessed with mastering it.
Two competitors.
Two killers.
One legendary conversation.
Kobe was a real
One…RIP🙏🏾
