Highlights from July 5th's matchup of Blue Island Classic vs Team MSL AA!

In the inaugural interleague showdown, the Sidewinders were proudly represented by Jim Charek in a 2-1 win for Team MSL over Blue Island. He entered the game in the 9th inning and shut the door earning the save with 1 strikeout and no hits surrendered.

We look forward to having a few more names added to the roster next year!

***Victory Monday***

Despite dropping game 2 of the DH on Sunday, the Sidewinders won a nailbiter for game 1 against the Trash Pandas 2-1! The defense was locked in, the hits were timely, and the heat was turned up!

Nick Orlando started the game off hot with a triple in the 1st inning giving us the lead! In the 4th Tony Marcellino came up clutch with a sacrifice fly that was the final run needed to seal the win for the team.

While Jim Charek pitched the complete game giving up only 1 run, the defense was the story for game silencing some red-hot Trash Panda hitters! In the bottom of the 1st inning with bases loaded, Mike Quinn stole a line drive in the gap keeping the runners from scoring. Then in the bottom of the 6th inning, PJ Visser made a spectacular diving catch with 2 outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd to end the inning! Lastly, Jason Voss stole a hit away in the bottom of the 7th by snagging a ground ball up the middle!

This weekend there will be no games due to it being July 4th. Happy 250th!!

After the bye week, the Sidewinders will be traveling up north looking to shake up the division with a DH showdown facing the 2nd place Rhinos!

It has come to our attention that there was a birthday shoutout missed for yesterday. Unfortunately, the Sidewinders were busy with a DH. Happy belated Birthday to Brice Call. Hopefully this message reaches you at the wedding, beach, or 5th honeymoon that you might be on!

1 game over was nice while it lasted. 😕.
