Rorey O'Connor, a 7-year-old girl in the 1st grade, realized one day that not every child is blessed, as she is, with good health. Hearing about the devastating impact and loss that childhood cancer brings with it, she decided she wanted to help in any way she could. She is now raising money by running in The Color Run - Chicago on June 7, 2015 in an effort to "Bring Flashes of Color for Cancer."
Proceeds from the event will go to Chicago's local chapter of Flashes of Hope, a non-for-profit organization which provides professional photo shoots for families of those children diagnosed with pediatric cancer. The organization honors the courage of children with cancer by capturing a moment in time and funding cancer research so that the children may have a chance to create a lifetime of memories. After the race, Rorey and her family will participate in one of the Flashes of Hope summer camp events to provide the donation and meet with Chapter Director Carrie Gowans, some of the pediatric cancer survivors who are well enough to finally leave the hospital setting, and some of the photographers and stylists who donate their time and professional services to support this admirable cause.
