Former Browns star CB Joe Haden says most people have no idea how quickly a $50M NFL contract vanishes once taxes and family expenses take effect 💰 🤔

“I signed a five-year, $50 million [rookie] contract. I had about $26.6 million guaranteed. My first year, I got a $12 million signing bonus. After taxes, I only touched around $7 million,” Haden said of his contract.

Haden then listed his purchases:
“The first thing I did was give my parents $3 million. Then I bought them a $1 million house…So right away, about $5 million was gone…I bought my brother’s cars. I bought myself a penthouse. I got a Range Rover Sport and a Bentley GT.”

“People hear $50 million and think you’ve got $50 million sitting in the bank. That’s not how it works…You look up after all that and realize you might only have around $1 million left,” Haden said.

“You start understanding real quick that a $50 million contract is not actually $50 million…That’s why so many guys go broke.”

Haden, 37, finished with $121.471M in career earnings after 12 NFL seasons.

In response to a report stating that Parsons would miss “upwards of half the season”, Terrence Parsons wrote, “they weren’t tryna listen.”

Terrence Parsons also clarified that his brother is likely to make his season debut in Week 8.

The initial expectation was that Parsons would miss the first four games, but it’s looking like he’ll be out longer.

Lions star RB Jahmyr Gibbs is training with MMA legend, Rafael Cordeiro, this offseason as he prepares for his fourth NFL season 🥊

Starting in March, Gibbs began implementing mixed martial arts (MMA) training into his offseason regimen, which he hopes will translate to increased success on the football field.

“It helps with body control. Your base and all that and faster hands. I would say with blocking, I get my hands up before they hit me. I feel like my body’s gotten in better shape, like physically it looks better. And conditioning-wise, that conditioning is way different from here because you use nonstop movement in every muscle of your body,” Gibbs said.

“Out here [in football], you get more breaks and [there is] much more using your legs. But there [in MMA], it’s just constant shoulders, knees, elbows, you go to the ground and all that so out here I barely get tired.”

Gibbs, 24, has completed more than 20 hourlong training sessions with Cordeiro of Kings MMA Gym in Huntington Beach, California. He was referred to the legendary Brazilian coach by one of his close friends after Gibbs posted a message on social media saying he was looking for a trainer.

“He now has the vision that the fighters have inside the octagon. He can see. When I say something, it makes sense for him,” Cordeiro said of Gibbs.

“So, we work on a lot of specific drills that will have him prepared for all situations — long distance, short distance, how to move, how to control, how to keep his hands up and the kid understands very, very fast.”

In his career, Cordeiro has helped guide the likes of former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum and legendary fighters Wanderlei Silva, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Cris Cyborg among many others.

Ex-Packers revealed WR Donald Driver he lived out of a U-Haul truck under a bridge.

Driver has openly talked about growing up homeless in Houston, saying he lived “in and out of U-Haul trucks,” apartments, and friends’ homes while his mother was trying to raise five children.

Driver went from a seventh-round pick to one of the greatest Packers receivers ever, finishing with franchise records for 743 receptions and 10,137 receiving yards, alongside a Super Bowl 45 ring.

With NFL training camps set to get underway next month, it's becoming increasingly likely that former Saints star WR Michael Thomas will retire.

Thomas, who was released by the Saints in March of 2024, didn't join a new team the last two seasons and remains a free-agent this far into the summer.

Things can change with potential injuries during training camp and the preseason, but if Thomas hasn't generated any interest thus far, it doesn't bode well for his chances to get another NFL opportunity.

If the 33-year-old Thomas doesn't play another snap, he'd finish with 565 receptions, 6,569 receiving yards, and 36 TDs in 83 career games and seven seasons for the Saints.

Thomas has a well-decorated resume regardless if he returns to the gridiron:
🔶 NFL Offensive Player of the Year (2019)
🔶 2x First-team All-Pro (2018, 2019)
🔶 3x Pro-Bowler (2017-2019)
🔶 2x NFL receptions leader (2018, 2019)
🔶 NFL receiving yards leader (2019)
🔶 2019 NFL record for most receptions in a season (149)
