The MedCommons is a community for physician spouses and partners—created to connect, support, and spark meaningful conversations.

You don’t have to do this alone. Let’s build something real together.

It’s that time again! We’ve updated our Physician Spouse/Partner Experience Survey and we need your responses.

We’ve made a lot headway this year advocating for physician families with healthcare systems, and now we need updated data to bring back to them so they can better understand how the medical journey is impacting you and what support is still needed.

Our goal is 250–300 responses over the next six weeks. We’d love 500, so let’s see what we can do!

Once the responses are in, .m.kent , fellow medspouse, PhD, researcher, and all-around fabulous person, will compile the data. Then we’ll share what we learn with both you and healthcare systems.

If you’re a physician spouse or partner, please take it. And please share it with other medspouses and partners too!

Physician families need connection, local support, and practical resources.

Healthcare systems need a simple way to support them without adding more work to already-full teams.

That’s what The MedCommons Circle was built to do.

If your healthcare system or residency program is interested in piloting The MedCommons Circle, especially across multiple hospitals, locations, or programs in one community, send us a message. We’d love to connect.

If you’re a physician spouse/partner and want your healthcare system to know about The MedCommons and The MedCommons Circle- share or tag them!

This is not about suggesting healthcare organizations are responsible for solving every challenge physician families face.

It’s about recognizing that family integration and community stability have downstream effects on physician well-being, retention, and long-term sustainability 💪

Give us a 🙋‍♀️ if you left family, friends and community to support someone in medicine!

We can’t talk about community as a protective factor for physician well-being while overlooking the families being asked to rebuild theirs.

What do you think?

Medicine doesn’t make physician families immune to addiction. In many cases, it can make it harder to see, harder to name, and harder to ask for help.

This article by shares what physician families need to know, why addiction can take hold in medical culture, and why support for both the physician and the partner matters so much.

This is where members of The MedCommons Circle are right now- plus Hawaii!

It’s been really fun to watch this grow, especially as more people start to find others in their own areas.

The goal has always been simple. Make it easier for physician spouses and partners to find connection locally and feel more settled wherever they land.

If you’ve already joined, make sure your notifications are on so you know when someone new joins near you!

If you’re a physician spouse/partner, haven’t joined yet, and are looking for connection where you are, this is exactly what it was built for 💪

If programs want stronger family integration, orientation is one of the best places to start.

Spouses and partners are often the ones helping the family get settled, understand the new community, figure out logistics, and hold things together behind the scenes at home.

When they hear important information directly, it creates clarity, reduces stress, and helps the whole family get grounded faster.

And when that is followed by ongoing support through The MedCommons Circle, families have a place to continue building connection, finding resources, and getting rooted in the community.

When the family feels more supported, the physician is better supported too.
