Get A Grip is a Chicago based Flying Trapeze & Aerial Arts School. We're located on beautiful Foster Beach in the summer & in the Broadway Armory in the winter.

Even the flyer was surprised at the sound 😂

What can we say, it wouldn’t be a circus without a little bit of clowning around! Not every swing gets a slide whistle accompaniment, but it does sound different per flyer. If you’re in lines, you’ll hear the sound of the lines moving back & forth. If you’re OOL (out of lines), you’ll get beautiful silence!

And if you fly in August, you get cicadas as the background.

Would you try it??

There are only so many summer nights left for the year! This is one of the best times to make the most of the beautiful weather in Chicago by taking a Flying Trapeze class next to Lake Michigan.

The skies are beautiful, and it’s just kinda nice to know that you get to have some end of summer adventures and are making the most of these beautiful evenings by the lake.

Wait till you see the trick! 🎪💪😍

This flying trapeze trick is called a toes off, as you hang momentarily from your toes on the bar while opening up for the catcher to catch you. Simple, elegant, & a fun open for the flyer as they quickly move upside down and right side up again!

If you want to try this, come fly with us! We have classes for folks of all levels at beautiful Foster Beach every day! First time flyers start with a knee hang and back flip, but if you continue taking classes with us you can learn this trick, too!

No experience necessary to fly — you don’t have to be in Cirque du Soleil to experience the freedom of flying trapeze & circus.

You’re kept in safety lines the entire time, & your first trick is a knee hang, backflip dismount, & if you nail the knee hang, you can join catch round — just like this video. All you have to do is sign up!

We love summer & flying at Foster Beach in Chicago! The net is bouncy & a well timed drop from our head coach & catcher can put him easily in the catch trap, ready to catch everyone’s tricks!

Want to see this in person & try taking a trick across to a catcher? Sign up for a Flying Trapeze class! In your first ever class, you’ll learn a knee hang & backflip dismount. If you nail the knee hang, you’ll be able to join catch round, where one of our catchers will try to catch your tricks!

What’s better than a perfect blue & lightly cloudy sky for circus show photos?!

If there’s one thing we love about summer, it’s the fact that we have such a beautiful place in which to practice flying trapeze. Check out some of these photos from our recent Musicals themed flying trapeze show — and the picture perfect summer day that we were lucky enough to enjoy!
