The Chinese zodiac - which animal are you?
The Chinese zodiac, or shengxiao, refers to the circle of 12 animals that measure the cycles of time. Signs or animals are determined by the lunar year in which you were born.
Legend has it that a god beckoned all animals to bid him farewell before his departure from Earth. Only 12 of them, namely the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig arrived, with each given a place of honor in a year based on the order of arrival.

Kung fu kids battle heat wave in C China :)
Children brave high temperatures to practice kung fu at the Changchun Taoist temple in Wuhan, Central China’s Hubei province. Children aged from three to 12 learn basic kung fu moves at the temple, with some training sessions lasting for 20 minutes in the scorching sun. Masters at the temple say the training helps build the body and improve self-discipline.

Beijing wine and nightlife blogger Jim Boyce announced this week that bars and restaurants in several countries will participate in World Baijiu Day, a series of events designed to make consumers outside of China familiar with the nation's popular white spirit.

World Cultural Heritage: Fujian Tulou :)
Fujian Tulou (simplified Chinese: 福建土楼; traditional Chinese: 福建土樓; pinyin: Fújiàn Tǔlóu; literally: "Fujian earthen structures") is a type of Chinese rural dwelling of the Hakka is in the mountainous areas in southeastern Fujian. They were mostly built between the 12th and the 20th centuries.

Zhang Rongwei's ink drawing "Old Downtown Shanghai". Artist Zhang Rongwei has published more than 300 artistic works. Now in his 60s, Zhang is actively involved in the community by introducing pen and ink drawings to young children. :)

Remarkable celadon professor succeeds in combining modern and ancient :)
Hong Shude glazes a preform of a celadon ware in Xiamen. Hong, a professor at Xiamen Academy of Arts and Design of Fuzhou University, has dedicated himself to celadon since the 1990s. In 2008, he succeeded in firing a kind of celadon which combines modern design elements with the ancient craft of Tingxi Klin, an important representative of celadon in south China during the Song Dynasty (960-1279).

Oil paper umbrellas made in Luzhou :)
The history of Luzhou's oil paper umbrella production can be traced back more than 400 years to the late Ming Dynasty(1368-1644). Its craftwork is now a state-level non-material cultural heritage and has over 70 steps, including bamboo-splitting, drilling, threading, paper cutting, gluing, sun drying, etc.
