Simon G. Atkins High School Wrestling

I am so proud of these young women! They all wrestled very hard and we finished in 8th place out of 25 teams in the region! Genesis Hall took 2nd place and Sophia Dowling was the region champion! I am excited to watch these two chase a state title next week in Greensboro!

3 camel wrestlers punched their tickets to the state tournament today! Congrats to Cam Gora for being the regional runner up, Luke Ertl for finishing 4th in the region and Cooper Ranson for being the regional runner up! We finished in 8th place as a team out of 29 teams! Now we head to Greensboro to chase hardware next week!

Senior night is tonight! We had a ton of seniors this year and they will all be deeply missed! This is the last of the "original 8"- the first group of kids I took to wrestling camp. I am so proud to have been able to be a part of their growth and maturation on and off the mat! These kids are going places!

I am beyond grateful for the amazing success we have had in 2025 and looking forward to what 2026 has in store for this group! I am so appreciative of the community of former wrestlers that come back and help, we are truly growing something special and it's because of you all! Cheers to 2025!

The Camels wrestling team had a very productive day at the CH invitational at West Wilkes high school today! The boys finished in 5th place and the girls finished in 4th! Bringing home some hardware for the girls we had:

We had a great night in the desert with the girls going 3-0 and the guys going 3-0! We also got to celebrate senior, Cam Gora's 100th win! To my knowledge he is th first in Atkins history with 100 career wins! I am excited about the growth of our newer wrestlers and the leaders of the team setting the pace!

We had a great weekend of wrestling at Cedar Ridge! I am so proud of these student athletes for consistently putting in work and improving. Placing we had Gabriel Webster taking 2nd and Sophia Dowling taking 2nd! A lot of young wrestlers got in some quality mat time and Aome got her first win! We are back in action at East Surry Tuesday.

Opening weekend in the books! 20 teams traveled to Atkins to compete today and our teams competed well with the guys finishing in 10th place and the girls finishing in fifth! I am beyond thankful for all of the help it took to tackle this endeavor. Placing for the Atkins camels we had;

The lady camels competed in regionals this weekend and finished 15th out of 54 teams! I am beyond proud of the growth of these young women! Sophia Dowling lost in the blood round and Genesis Hall finished 3rd. Genesis battled back and won 4 straight matches today after losing a heartbreaker 7-6 last night! Genesis will be competing in the state tournament in Greensboro in two weeks!!! It is amazing to watch these young women form the bonds that they have with their team!
