Cueing isn’t free.
Every instruction you give an athlete pulls attention off the target and onto the body. One cue is manageable. Four cues and you’ve got a pitcher running a checklist instead of competing.
External focus wins for a reason, the intent organizes the movement better than your verbal instructions do.
Give them a target.
Give them a task.
Give them a reason to care about the outcome.
Then get out of the way.
The pattern shows up on its own.

Most coaching jobs hand you a radar gun or Trackman iPad and a plan someone else wrote.
This one hands you a force plate mound, 3D kinematics, and the authority to build the program yourself.

The radar gun says he’s back, the data may say otherwise.
New research tracked every MLB player who had a shoulder labrum repair from 2017-2024 and the comeback story splits hard by position.
Position players? They bounce back.
~93% return to the majors, with no real drop in power, contact, or defense.
Pitchers are a different story. Under half make it back, and it takes them ~7 months longer. Here’s the kicker: their velocity, spin, and movement all return to normal - but the advanced metrics that grade pitch quality (Stuff+, Pitching+, Location+) crater to league-average or below. The fastball looks the same, it just doesn’t miss bats anymore.
The takeaway for anyone managing a throwing athlete: don’t clear a pitcher on velocity alone. Track command and pitch-quality metrics deep into late-stage rehab, plan for a longer timeline, and reset expectations for that first season back.
Swipe through for the full breakdown 👉 Save it for your staff and send it to a coach who needs to see it.

What does every number actually tell you when throwing on a mound integrated with force plates? 🤷
When you throw on the Axioforce mound, two plates read you at once, one under the drive (back) leg, one under the landing (front) leg. Together they tell the whole story of a pitch as a force-and-timing event, not just a video.
The graph isn’t decoration. It’s the kinetic chain, drawn out in real time:
▶️ The back leg builds momentum down the slope.
▶️ The front leg has to catch all of it and brace — that’s the block.
▶️ How fast, how hard, and how cleanly you transfer between
those two is the pitch.
Swipe through for a breakdown in lehmans terms of the graph and every metric on the report, what it means and why we care about it for performance and mechanical optimization. Save it for the next time you see your own capture.
