โจ It may be the middle of July, but weโre already dreaming of snowflakes, Sugar Plum Fairies, and the magic of The Nutcracker!
Each year, our dancers have the opportunity to bring this beloved holiday tradition to life through Piedmont Dance Theatre. It's become the cornerstone of our dance community. For so many of the PSMD family, the Nutcracker is a place to build confidence, create memories, and experience the joy of performing on stage.
The holidays are months away, but we canโt wait to share the magic with you. โค๏ธ๐ฉฐ

One of the sweetest highlights from recital day was our Daddy Daughter Dance. ๐
We are still basking in the glow of such a beautiful moment, dads and daughters sharing the stage, creating memories, and reminding us that dance is about so much more than steps.
Our amazing dads and daughters showed up for rehearsals, learned choreography together, practiced their timing, and supported one another every step of the way. By the time they stepped on stage, you could see not only the work they had put in, but the fun they found in doing it together.
It is about joy. Connection. Confidence. Family. And the kind of moments that stay with you long after the curtain closes.
To every student, parent, teacher, and family member who helped make recital day so special: thank you. We are so proud of our PSMD dancers and so grateful for this wonderful community. โจ

The magic of recital day isnโt just for our youngest dancers. โจ
On Saturday, our Adult Ballet students stepped into the spotlight for our โUnder the Big Topโ recital theme. It was a joyful performance and a clear reminder that growth can happen at every age and stage of dance.
From grand jetรฉ to sautรฉ arabesque, these dancers showed the strength, focus, and artistry they have been building in class. Their performance reflected not only technical progress, but confidence, commitment, and the joy of continuing to grow as dancers.
We are so proud of this group and the beautiful work they shared on stage. Bravo, dancers! ๐ช๐ฉฐ

Some recital moments happen on stage. Others happen quietly backstage and they stay with us forever. โค๏ธ
This is Reagan, a former PSMD student who graduated last year, helping her mom with makeup before our โUnder the Big Topโ recital on Saturday.
Reagan came back to help backstage during the performance, and this sweet moment says so much about the heart of our community. Students grow up here. Families make memories here. And sometimes, life comes full circle in the most beautiful ways.
We love seeing former students return, give back, and continue to be part of the PSMD story.
Once PSMD family, always PSMD family. ๐๐

๐ Senior Spotlight: Mila ๐
Fifteen years at the heart of PSMD. This is Mila. ๐ฉฐ
Mila has been a part of PSMD since her first steps, and her words say it better than we ever could.
From Mila: "Out of the many, many memories I have from my past 15 years growing up at PSMD, my favorite memory would be performing Clara in the Nutcracker alongside my dad and seeing my wonderful friends supporting me in the wings. The highlights of my years here have been centered around the wonderful people I have been so lucky to call my teachers, mentors, and lifelong friends."
Mila carries those lifelong connections with her to UNC Chapel Hill Honors, where she'll study Political Science on the Pre-Law track. ๐๐ค
