Meet Ashley Cicero, one of our new instructors this season. 🤍

Ashley has been dancing since she was young and has spent years sharing her love of movement through teaching, choreography, and performance. With a BA in English and a minor in Dance from Samford University and an MFA in Dance from Hollins University, she brings a thoughtful and creative approach to working with young dancers.

Ashley’s favorite classes are ballet and modern. She loves the structure, shapes, and lines of ballet, while also appreciating the freedom and creative choices that modern dance offers. A fun fact about Ashley? She has traveled to Plovdiv, Bulgaria twice to study dance!

As she begins her season with Dance Moves, Ashley is most excited to join our community, meet her students, and see how they share their creativity through movement. She hopes to create a positive and encouraging space where every dancer feels comfortable exploring their potential.

Meet Francesca Lage, one of our new instructors this season. 🤍

Francesca has been dancing since the age of two and has trained in a wide range of styles, including ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, contemporary, tap, hip hop, and Latin jazz. Her experience includes professional performances, dance education, and continued work as a professional dancer here in Charleston.

Her favorite style is contemporary, and a fun fact about Francesca? She's also certified in Pilates! She is especially excited to meet her students and the Dance Moves team and to share her passion for dance in a positive, encouraging environment where dancers can feel comfortable, build confidence, and grow.

We're so excited to welcome Francesca to the Dance Moves family and can't wait to see the energy and passion she'll bring to the studio. 🤍

Meet Maya Alizzeo, our Education Director and James Island Manager. 🤍

Maya has been dancing since the age of three, with a background in ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, and contemporary. After years of training, performance, and teaching, she brings her passion for dance education and creativity to Dance Moves, where she supports curriculum development, teacher mentorship, and positive learning experiences for dancers of all ages.

For Maya, growth is at the heart of our curriculum. We don't just teach choreography—we teach skills dancers can carry into all aspects of life. Our progressive curriculum helps dancers reach meaningful milestones while building creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of dance.

Meet Dane Burch, one of our new instructors this season. 🤍

With more than 30 years of experience as a dance educator, choreographer, and movement specialist, Dane is passionate about helping dancers build strong technique while discovering their own artistry, confidence, and love of movement. His welcoming teaching style encourages every student to explore, grow, and express themselves.

Outside the studio, Dane is also a certified yoga instructor and Pilates reformer instructor, bringing a thoughtful understanding of strength, alignment, and body awareness to every class he teaches.

Dane's favorite style is Lyrical, where storytelling and emotion come together through movement. And here's a fun fact—you might catch him on his purple bike! Earlier this year, he rode it across Namibia, Africa, combining his love of adventure with his passion for staying active.

As he begins his first season with Dance Moves, Dane is looking forward to meeting his new students, teaching both youth and adult classes, and sharing another season filled with learning, growth, and of course... dance.

Meet Chloe Parker, our Nexton Manager. 🤍

Chloe began dancing at the age of 10 and has spent years sharing her love of movement through dance, musical theatre, fitness, and education. With experience as an instructor, choreographer, certified yoga instructor, and personal trainer, she brings energy, encouragement, and a passion for helping others grow.

When asked what she'd say to someone who's nervous about trying dance for the first time, Chloe's message is simple: everyone starts somewhere. It's completely normal to feel a little nervous, but stepping into something new can also be the beginning of discovering a new passion, building confidence, and finding a community that supports you every step of the way.

Whether you're walking into your very first dance class or returning after time away, our goal is to help you feel welcomed, encouraged, and excited to keep coming back.
