Registration for the 2027 Southern Cross Race opens January 1, 2027!

It takes an army to host the Fool's Gold Mountain Bike Race - here are the volunteer positions we still need to fill on Saturday September 12. These are all in the Dahlonega, GA area. Please email [email protected] if you can assist. All volunteers receive either a $100 entry credit, a 2026 Fool's Gold Entry for a friend/family member, or a $100 donation to a trail organization/youth team of your choice.

6 am to Noon - Parking/Registration/Pre-Lunch Setup
11 am to 5 pm - Bull Mountain Aid Station Crew Member
10 am to 3 pm - Bull Mountain Aid Station Medic
8:30 am to 2:30 pm - Course Marshal
1 pm to 7 pm - Course Marshal
8 am to ?? - Sweep Rider (can be an ebike)
Noon to ?? - Sweep Rider (can be an ebike)

We are looking for a few more course marshals for the upcoming Fool's Gold Mountain Bike Race on Saturday September 12th in Dahlonega, GA. Ideally, we need folks who are familiar with the gravel roads in the Bull Jake area so that you can easily get to your assigned spot. Course marshals receive a shirt and $100 event credit, or we can comp an entry for a friend or family member for this year's Fool's Gold Race. Northeast GA SORBA is hosting a work day at Bull and Jake on August 29th to cut back briars on the Jones Creek Dam Trail. Details are in the post below - please consider helping out if you enjoy riding the Bull and Jake Trails.

Our upcoming Garland Mountain Trail Runs feature a 4 mile dog friendly run with separate start, a 4 mile traditional run and 13.1 mile run. Join us on these amazing flowy trails on October 17th and see this course and all of its colors at a different time of year. Thanks to the Friends of Garland Mountain Trails for always being so welcoming to our runners on race day!

Fool's Gold Mountain Bike Race guaranteed shirt size deadline is this Friday August 15th. Register by then to ensure you get your preferred size and to also lock in the lowest entry price. It will go up by $10 once we hit 200 riders.

2026 Shirt Design for the Fool's Gold Mountain Bike Race - sign up by August 15th to guarantee your size and to decrease your race director's stress levels. These will be navy blue shirts this year.

CALL FOR FOOL'S GOLD VOLUNTEERS! Its that time of year again - we are looking for folks who'd like to assist with the upcoming Fool's Gold MTB race on September 12, 2026. We currently have a lot of positions available including course marshals, aid stations, registration, and post-race help at Montaluce. Fool's Gold volunteers who work a 6 hour shift earn a $100 entry credit to a future event OR if you have a spouse/friend coming with you to the race and they volunteer on your behalf, you can race this year's event for free. I have a couple of spots available for registration helpers who would help Friday 4-8 pm AND Saturday 6-7:30 am, and still be able to race the 2026 FG on an entry credit. Please email [email protected] if you would like to assist with your availability, shirt size, and if you have a preferred position.
