The Illinois Sumo Association is officially hitting the grass!
We’ve started our outdoor training practices at Calumet City Memorial Park, and we want to see you there. We’ll be training every other Sunday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Whether you’re looking to learn the basics, get a great workout, or just see what Midwest Sumo is all about, this is your chance to get involved.

The Illinois Sumo Association had our official launch event. Yamamotoyama and the Midwest Tsuppari Man were in the building. The room was electric with the music of Donnie "The Freakin' Puerto Rican" DeVoe . Our sponsors and those who were there know they were part of something real — and helped make it happen.

The launch was the spark. Now we're building the fire — a real dohyo ring, training mats, mawashis, safety gear, and the infrastructure to take Illinois athletes toward national competition.
