Somewhere along the way you stopped doing things just because they felt good.
Drawing, singing off-key, making something with your hands for no reason at all. Not to be good at it. Not to share it. Just because it was yours.

I used to dread the thought of summer starting. How was I going to keep every plate spinning, with the added stress of kids home all day and constantly reapplying sunscreen?
This year, before summer started, I took the Compass Assessment. It's a free 5-minute check-in that shows you how 8 different areas of your life are actually doing right now.

1. It gave me permission to let a few goals rest this summer, so I could actually enjoy it instead of feeling guilty about the fun replacing my to-do list.
2. It showed me that some of the areas that feel the most overwhelming are actually doing better than I thought. I didn't need to fix them, I just needed to see them clearly.
3. It helped me put my energy where it actually fits right now. Having fun this summer doesn't mean my other goals are gone. They'll be waiting when I'm ready for them.

Most goal-setting planners put your output above your capacity and your human-ness. Sierra built MäksēLife around the opposite: you first, the plan second.
This year's Mid-Year Reset was different than the ones we've done before. We talked about why so many of us have been feeling flat, what our nervous systems have actually been doing to protect us over the last few years, and five small, doable ways back to ourselves.
We could have talked about crossing off goals and measuring your progress, but that's not what this season is asking for.
