Before we found out our previous veneer supplier had been sold and would no longer be producing skateboard veneer, we were forced to make some major changes behind the scenes.
Our new veneer supplier doesn't offer pre-stained wood, so we had to learn how to stain our own veneer in-house. After a lot of searching for the right equipment—which wasn't easy to find—we finally got everything we needed and began the process ourselves.
We first received a trial shipment from our new supplier, and a couple of weeks ago our first full load arrived. One of the first things we noticed is that the veneer feels a little harder than what we were using before, and that's something we're excited about. We're looking forward to seeing how it performs in production and on the streets.
With the recent acquisition of Manthei Wood Products's veneer operations, we're optimistic about the future and excited to continue improving the quality of our skateboards. Every challenge has been another opportunity to learn, grow, and make our products even better.
