A little preview of today's action.
FAQ:
- Stefanie’s Ski Lift is named in honor of Stefanie Hartlmaier, co-founder of Georg’s Ski Shop, the first ski shop in Brian Head (1964), and one of the community’s earliest and most beloved residents still living in Brian Head today.
- This lift is part of Aspen Meadows, paid for by the developer to promote community growth. It and others will be integrated into Brian Head Resort and operated by the resort.
- Stefanie’s is scheduled to be completed this winter and will be open to the public along with another lift (Christmas Tree) for the 2027-28 season. There may be some limited promotional use this winter.
- Proposed Brian Head Resort lifts to connect Aspen Meadows to the main resort are currently undergoing forest service review (review to be completed July 2027).
- Aspen Meadows has 12 planned lifts and the resort has 14 proposed, all part of their 30+ year vision.

Some of the best colors around are right at the start of the Aspen Meadows Loop trail by the nicely flowing creek. The new growth aspens out in the burn scar have about lost all their color, however.

My assessment:
- Cedar Breaks: Peaking
- SR-143 to Panguitch: Peaking / some past peak
- Brian Head town (pic): Peaking next week
- Aspen Meadows / north of town: past peak
- High Mountain (background): peaking in 2 weeks
- SR-14 Cedar to Cedar breaks: just starting to change
I would give this color season a "C". Some good color but so many trees just turned slightly yellow and then dropped their leaves.

All the pieces of Stefanie’s lift should now be in town. Major assembly operations will occur this week.

We have some nice color, but noticed many trees just lost their leaves without turning probably due to drought stress (some in the distance here).

Yesterday was the official ribbon cutting for the rebuilt CCC structure atop Brian Head Peak. Rebuilding it was a great accomplishment by the Forest Service, HistoriCorps, Zion Forever Project, Visit Cedar City Brian Head, Brian Head Town, and private donors (thanks!). The wind tested the new roof during the ceremony!

The trees east of Cedar Breaks towards Sydney Valley are peaking this week. Note in each of these that the old guard tall trees appear to be near end of life with few leaves, but the young troops will carry on with their legacy. There is also starting to be a good amount of color in town with peaking probably starting in another week.
