Before Boulder welcomes visitors from around the world for Sundance, we’re excited to welcome everyone to the Alpine Bank Boulder Thanksgiving Day 5K in the heart of Downtown Boulder.

This year’s event pays homage to one of Boulder’s most iconic landmarks — the historic Boulder Theater.

Our scenic course winds through the streets connecting the West End and East End of Pearl Street before finishing on the iconic Pearl Street Mall in front of the historic Boulder County Courthouse.

Along the way, you’ll run past some of Boulder’s most famous landmarks:

• Hotel Boulderado — Established 1909
• Boulder Theater — Opened 1906
• Boulder County Courthouse — Built 1933
• Pearl Street Mall — Since 1977

More than just a race, this is an opportunity for our community to come together and give back, with proceeds supporting Harvest of Hope Food Pantry.

Harvest of Hope Pantry is the only food pantry in Boulder that serves everyone who comes through its doors. Every week, they provide free supplemental food to approximately 750 shoppers, distributing an average of 3,500 pounds of food each day. Through food drives, local farm donations, retail food recovery, and community support, they provide hope to individuals and families facing food insecurity.

Thanks to their incredible buying power and community partnerships, every $1 donated provides one nutritious meal for someone in need.

To help make an even greater impact, 10% of every race registration will be donated directly to Harvest of Hope Pantry.

This Thanksgiving, let’s come together to celebrate our community and help Harvest of Hope continue providing nutritious food to everyone who walks through their doors.

Yesterday was another incredible Avery Brewing Company 4K on the 4th, with a huge turnout and an amazing atmosphere. It was TEAM-Boulder Running’s final race as Race Director, and quite possibly the last time this event will be held at Avery Brewing Company.

I want to sincerely thank everyone at Avery Brewing Company, especially Adam & Larry Avery, Joe Osborne, Ray Decker and Rachael Burrell, for taking a chance on me back in 2016 when I pitched the idea of a weekly fun run. What started with around 30 runners grew into a community of 250 - 300 people every single week. It was something truly special and a testament to the power of community… and good beer!

In 2019, I was honored to be entrusted with Larry Avery’s baby, the 4K on the 4th. Carrying on Larry’s legacy has been an absolute privilege, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity.

Through changes in ownership and organisational structure, one constant has been Rachael Burrell. She has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure these community events continued, and she deserves enormous recognition for everything she has done.

To everyone who has run, volunteered, sponsored, or supported these events over the years, thank you! You helped create something that was about so much more than running.

A special thank you to the amazing volunteers pictured with me, and particularly to John Bridges, Don Janicki and Terry Femmer, who have been by my side every step of the way. I couldn’t have done it without you.

See you again in late fall to wrap up the year and end with the Boulder Thanksgiving Day 5K.
