new series !! where i give you tools and tips to overcome some of your biggest excuses when it comes to being a busy mom and working out!
ep. 16- “working out is expensive!”
this mindset is what’s going to hold you back from starting your fitness journey. the gym is not directly correlated to losing weight/gaining strength. the exercise and workout itself is! and that can happen anywhere, with anything including just your body weight and walking daily. But if you’re seeking to start in the gym, look into gyms like planet fitness that offer affordable packages, join a family members membership, and look into how much your health insurance reimburses for gym memberships! but what you shouldn’t do is not get started because of this, you deserve better than that mama 🩷

day 15 - “the gym gives me anxiety”
a lot of the anxiety comes from not being prepared. or not practicing before. if it’s your first day ever in the gym, take that day to just walk around, look at the machines, stretch, and just be there. going forward, create a playlist you can vibe to, find a small corner for yourself, and definitely don’t let the gym be the only time you practice. you can practice anywhere! it build yours confidence knowing you’ve done that move before. also understand it’s normal you’re doing something new, embrace it and you’ll see on the other side how worth it to have pushed through ❤️

day 14 (i may have missed a day or 2 i was on vaca mode!!) - “im not good at diets”
dieting can be intimidating because you’re afraid to not be able to eat your fave foods, or think your alternatives aren’t going to be good, or you are afraid of failing and doing worse. i personally don’t recommend diets, i recommend a lifestyle change including choosing better options when you have the opportunity and intermittent fasting! it’s what helped speed up my metabolism when i first started my fitness journey postpartum, gave me so much more energy and naturally fit into my lifestyle which was key! i have info on my page on IF but always happy to answer your questions! (personal mama opinion here only!)

day 13 - “i don’t like to exercise”
it’s really hard to get into something when you’re not enjoying what you do. sometimes it just needs to get done, a lot of other times you just need to find a way to enjoy it. at first for me working out was more of a chore and showing up was hard but i did so consistently. eventually it stopped being a chore and i found moves & exercises i enjoyed especially when i switch from workouts at home to the gym. this doesn’t have to be hard! walk, zumba, jump rope, roller skating…have fun with it!

day 12 - “i’m not athletic”
the great news is you don’t have to be athletic or an athlete to get started. all it takes is consistency & showing up for your workouts like you do for other things in your life. yes someone who’s been in sports or working out for years are more fit and strong but they all started as a beginner, and have grown on their own timeline. it’s you vs you!

day 11 :) - “i feel selfish taking time to workout or go to the gym”
as a mom i can relate! it always feels selfish to take time away from your kids especially if you’ve been away from them all day because of school and work, or your house is busy and you can’t find 30 minutes a few days a week for you. in the moment it doesn’t seem like much, but after a while these moments you skip lead to burnout, being overwhelmed and feeling like you have no control. moving your body for 20-30 minutes for 3 days a week significantly reduces the stress, makes you more happy and more feeling of satisfaction with yourself and life in general. this time for you is important !!

day 10 - “i’m not fit enough”
i wanna argue that this is actually a good thing! it’s proven that someone new to fitness or starting a new challenege actually create amazing progress, confidence, motivation and results than someone who’s been doing this for years! everyone starts somewhere and your journey is your own! when you compare to others around you who have been probably working out for yearsssss and have gone through this stage, it’s hard to stay consistent. you got this, and we can start together too 🩷

day 9 - “im in a busy season of life to start”
Busy seasons are real, feeling like you’re too busy to focus on starting something new is real. But how about if you set it up slowly, ensuring you were setting yourself up for success? the great thing about fitness is that consistency is a big factor in seeing change and progress. of course there are many other factors, but staying consistent no matter the season will bring you further than giving it all up when you cant make the routine created for yourself.

day 8 - “my kids won’t let me workout :(”
these kids sure know how to throw a wrench in our wants and needs !! did you know though that kids who watch their parents workout and include them in their workouts grow to be more confident and resilient? you’re teaching them the tools they need to live a long, strong and happy life. for a new mom it can be overwhelming thinking about working out when you can barely leave the house for 2 minutes, and this is for you. workouts at home are just as effective as the gym, workout with your kids at home, stay present and get through it. this is only temporary until they’re old enough and you’re able to get to the gym, if you want it to 🩷

day 7 - “im just lazy”
take it from me, lazy fit mama 😘 i know the feeling of thinking since you’re generally a lazy person, slow to start, whatever it is, getting into fitness would be always be a challenge. I thought this way until i found a routine that worked for me. it also helped to ease my way into it (working out 3x a week for 30 minutes, at home) and consistently building from there. was it always fun? no, did i want to sit most days out because i just felt blah and not motivated? yes. finding a routine that is made for you will help with these days.
you can be lazy, fit & happy !
