With the start of Bow Season and the influx of drone pilots that have been flying in years past that believe they do not have to follow the regs the LDWF puts out, I’m going to just put up this excerpt from the hunting regs pamphlet for 26/27.

🏹🦌 Archery season is officially underway in Area 2 in Louisiana!
We know how it goes… You make the shot, give the deer time, and then start following the blood trail. Sometimes that trail gets thin, the woods get thick, and darkness starts working against you.
That’s where Bayou Drone Works can help.
Our thermal drone gives us a view from above and can cover a lot more ground than boots alone. If you’ve made a shot and need help locating your deer, give us a call or text before you spend hours pushing through the woods.
📍 Serving Northwest and North-Central Louisiana, with travel available beyond our primary service area.
📞 Call or text: 318-603-2929
Save our number now! You may not need us this weekend, but you’ll be glad you have it when you do.

*UPDATE*
Tonight was more about closure for Wathena’s (Wat-then a) mom than actually finding her. We wanted to find her, but after 10 days, your doggy parent heart has been through all the emotions and understands the inevitable. We searched all around the ponds in the area and everywhere else we could think to look and we couldn’t find her. We saw LOTS of deer, I got to see a few coyotes on the thermal, some armadillos, and a few cows. There was no sign of that baby.
Hopefully she will turn up… There are plenty of reward flyers in the area. Maybe someone has her and will see the flyer and return her to her family.

Headed out on another attempted pet rescue. This one’s been out for 10 days. They wanted to try everything before they stopped looking. Will keep you updated on the search. Ringgold, Louisiana here we come. Cross our fingers no one shoots at us this time!

*Story Time*
WE WERE SHOT AT!
We got a callout to try to find Annie the dachshund in Dry Prong. We got there and started flying about 8pm. The customer’s father in law was with us and showed us on the map where all he had walked and where some good starting points were. We flew for 2 hours with him watching the monitor. At that point he felt he had seen enough.
We contacted the customer and showed him where all we searched and he asked us to stay a little longer no matter the cost.
At 10:15pm we launched again and went through 4 more batteries, which put us up another 2ish hours when all the sudden, we heard a gun go off near by that was pointed in our direction through the woods and heard the pellets ripping through the leaves between us and the gun shot. Having hunted all my life, I’m pretty sure it was a 20 gauge sh***un with buck shot about 100ish yards away. My wife… Well… She freaked out. I on the other hand took some convincing that we were in danger and needed to leave for some reason. Not sure if I was just that tired or what my deal was. I did ask for her to get my wireless personal protection device from the truck. I knew it was more to get our attention than to hurt us. If they would have just come around to the church parking lot we were parked in and said “hey don’t fly over my house.” I would have been like “Cool man. We can be done.”
I was trying to get the drone back to the truck, and I turned around and nearly everything we had spread out on the tailgate for the search was in the back seat of the truck. Fight of flight mode? My wife was is flight mode!🤣
The customer apologized profusely and understood it was past time for us to go.
Were we in danger? Sorta.
Did we look in too many back yards? Probably.
Did we stay too long? Yep!

When you get shot at, the search and rescue is over immediately! Way to end tonight!! More to come after some rest!

Looks like we are headed towards CenLa tonight for another attempt at a pet rescue. We are going to look for a dash hound in Dry Prong La that has been missing since last night at 5pm. It’s gonna be another tough one since the search area is in a wooded area but we will make every attempt to find their little buddy.
The problem with 100° days is that it makes the entire tree canopy hot and hard to see through. We explained everything to the doggy daddy and he asked us to come anyways. Being pet lovers ourselves, I promise we will give it everything we’ve got to find the little dude.
Stay tuned for updates!
Hopefully we can find this little Hot Dog!

🦌 Hunters Tax Free Weekend is here in Louisiana… which means deer season is getting close!

While you’re stocking up on gear, we figured it was a pretty good time to remind everyone that Bayou Drone Works will be offering Thermal Deer Recovery this season.

We’re based in Bossier Parish during the week and usually in Claiborne Parish on the weekends — but we’re not scared of a little windshield time.

📍 Bossier • Caddo • DeSoto • Red River • Bienville • Webster • Lincoln • Claiborne • Union or further! 🗺️

Follow Bayou Drone Works here on Facebook for pricing, availability, recovery information, and updates as deer season gets underway.

Unfortunately our first pet search and rescue mission didn’t turn out like we hoped. After flying for 1.5 hrs, were unable to locate Milo. We knew going in that it was going to be a long shot since it was 2 days since he was seen but we gave it our best shot. During our search we found lots rabbits, so there is a pretty good chance that if we would have flown over him, we could have seen him.
We hope someone lucks up and finds Milo and reunites him with his family.
