Bird searchers!! We are almost ready to open registration for the 2026 Alabama Bird Search - Youth Challenge! Get ready for the challenge and see some really amazing birds in the Black Belt of Alabama this month with Alabama Audubon ... Scissor-tailed flycatchers, Wood Storks, Swallow-tailed Kites, Anhingas! And with the early stages of Fall migration kicking into gear, you never know what might turn up. Be on the lookout for an email if you're on our list and announcements here for the competition.

July events are lined up and ready to go! There's just one month left to get your tickets for the Black Belt Birding Festival, where you'll experience unique birds, rich history, and unforgettable adventures. Registration closes July 26.

Plus, don't miss our new Blueberries & Birds event at Smith's Farm, enjoy a morning of birding followed by fresh blueberry picking!

Alabama Bird Searchers! Check out Alabama Coastal Birdfest happening later this month! There are field trips for birders of all skill levels, including "Birding 101," a trip that your ABS Coordinator Jess will be co-leading. Going to be so much fun in the thick of Spring Migration and a great opportunity to practice for the ABS in Fall!
