Every cap at the Little League World Series is worth nothing, and that’s exactly the point.

No resale. No drop date. No colorway anybody argued about in a comment section. Somebody handed each of those kids a cap out of a cardboard box, and right now it’s the most important thing he owns.

That was you once. And here’s the uncomfortable part: most of us are spending forty, fifty, sixty dollars a cap trying to get back a feeling we got for free at eleven years old.

I don’t think that’s a knock on the hobby. I think it’s the engine of it. Every grail you’ve chased is an attempt to feel the way that first cap made you feel.

Which is probably why the least valuable cap you own is the one you’d grab first in a fire.

What was your first one?

Preseason kicks off Thursday.

This year’s rookies play their first real snap. But their cap moment already happened back in April.

New Era calls it “the moment in the mirror” — the exact second a guy sees himself in his new team’s cap for the first time.

Fernando Mendoza went No. 1 overall to the Raiders. He wasn’t even in the draft building. He was in his childhood backyard in Coral Gables, next to his mom in her wheelchair, and that’s where he put the cap on.

Same night, Kayden McDonald got picked by the Texans, put his cap on, and just lost it — full tears, hugging Roger Goodell on stage.

Different rooms. Different reactions. Same cap. That’s the actual moment a career starts.

Which draft night cap moment stuck with you? Drop it below.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day just posted one of the biggest opening weekends ever. Felt like the right time to talk about this one.

Side patch marks 1962 — Spider-Man’s actual debut, Amazing Fantasy #15. But flip this cap inside out and the guts are Steve Ditko art of Spidey’s first fight with the Vulture, one year later.

This is why fitteds hit the same way comics do for me. It’s never just the piece — it’s the story stitched into it.

New movie, old story. This one’s staying in the rotation.

That cap, you’ve been saving for the right moment? That’s the one you’re never going to wear.

You know exactly which one it is.

Drop the team in the comments. I want to see the rotation jail lineup.

Only three players in MLB history have gone into the Hall of Fame wearing a Mets cap.

Tom Seaver. Mike Piazza. And as of yesterday, Carlos Beltrán.
He played for seven organizations across his career, and his best individual seasons — the All-Star nods, the Gold Gloves — happened with the Mets. On paper, it checks out.

I’m still an Astros fan about it, though. Beltrán was on the 2017 championship team. That’s the run I actually watched him play. A cap isn’t a spreadsheet — it’s where you were sitting when it happened.
He picked the work over the ring. I get it. Doesn’t mean I don’t wish it was different.

If you were him, which cap would you have worn?

64 years ago today Jackie Robinson made history. Against all odds he solidified his place in history and was inducted into the baseball hall of fame.

The cap he wore on the field was a symbol of his grit. The armor he put on to go to battle game after game after game.

Your cap is a symbol too. It symbolizes your love for a city, a team. It has memories woven into the fabric and solidified by the sweat of your brow every time you wear it.

It’s more than just a cap. It’s history.

The green underbrim is back.

Hall of Fame Weekend, July 24–26. Every team, every cap — green underbrims back on the field. New Era started the design process by asking what each team’s first fitted looked like before the commercial era changed everything.
The Brewers’ “Motre Bame.” The Rays original green. The Angels halo on the top button. Short runs. Long memories.

Which one are you tracking down?

Astros 5950, Galaxy Dust colorway.
Black base, purple and red bleeding through, silver catching the light different every angle. Not your standard Astros fit.
