Georgia Reds Baseball - 35+

☀️Whew… where has the summer gone?!

It’s hard to believe we’re already at the end of July. This season has flown by, and what a ride it’s been.

We’ve celebrated some great wins, battled through some tough losses, and through it all, this team continues to stick together, have fun, and play the game they love. That’s what it’s all about!

Now we’ve got another big one ahead.

Memorial Day weekend baseball wrapped up with a championship win for the Georgia Reds in the 35+ division!🏆

Saturday and Sunday may not have gone our way, but this team showed exactly what it’s made of on Monday. In an intense back-and-forth battle with the Bombers, the guys stayed locked in until the very last out and walked away with an 11-10 victory to bring home the championship.

Today’s game was the definition of a team win. Every single player had a hand in the final result, and after a soggy weekend full of rain, aches, pains, and ups and downs, this was the perfect way to finish it off.

Now it’s time to spend the week healing up before we head to Berkmar next Sunday to take on the Diamond Kings in another exciting matchup.

A little late posting this one, but Sunday’s game was worth the wait. 🔥⚾️

The Georgia heat was in full force, but the Reds were even hotter as we took down the Hammers 16-3. Between the temperatures, the dugout energy, and the nonstop action on the bases, this one was a fun one from start to finish.

The base running was a HUGE part of this victory. Aggressive, smart, and nonstop pressure all game long helped keep the momentum rolling and the scoreboard moving. 💨⚾️

Player Spotlight of the Week: Will Mccorkle!

This week we’re showing love to the guy behind the plate, Will McCorkle.

Will shows up every game, straps on the gear, and catches every inning like an absolute workhorse. He is a vacuum cleaner behind the plate, because very little gets past him, and that kind of reliability changes the game for the whole team.

He works incredibly well with our pitchers, keeps them locked in, and helps control the pace of the game from start to finish. A good catcher does more than catch the ball. He manages the game, settles pitchers down, keeps runners honest, and gives the entire defense confidence.

Will does all of that for us.

Dependable, tough, smart, and always ready to compete. That’s why Will McCorkle is our Player Spotlight of the Week.

A hard fought game, and today the Tornados came out on top 18-11. We kept competing and stayed in it from start to finish.

At the end of the day, this game is bigger than any one player. It’s on all of us to show up with a team-first mindset, trust each other, and play for the name on the front, not the back. That’s when we’re at our best.

We win together, we learn together, and we move forward together.

We’ve got next weekend off for Mother’s Day, then we’ll be back at it May 17th against the Atlanta Hammers. Time to reset and come back stronger as the Georgia Reds team that we are💪

This week’s player spotlight is Georgia Reds player Sean O'Kelley!

He might be one of the quieter guys on the team, but don’t let that fool you. Sean has been making plenty of noise where it matters — on the field.

After battling through some ups and downs at the plate in the past, he has absolutely woken up this season with some huge hits for the Reds. Big moments, big swings, big results. The bat has officially entered the chat!

When he’s not coming through at the plate, he’s one of our most dependable arms on the mound. A lefty who competes, throws strikes, and gives the team a chance every time he gets the ball.

What stands out most, though, is the way he carries himself. Humble. Hard-working. Team-first. He shows up, keeps a great attitude, puts in the work, and never makes it about himself.

Quiet presence, loud results.

That’s the kind of teammate every team needs, and we’re lucky to have him wearing Reds red.

The bats were on fire this morning as we took down the Toritos with a big 19 to 9 win. From top to bottom, this was a true team victory with great at bats, strong plays, and nonstop energy all game long.

Huge credit to the Toritos for a competitive matchup and a great morning on the field.

The sting of defeat is real. It is easy to feel downtrodden and turn the blame inward. It is harder to find the small victories in a tough loss and push yourself to grow through adversity. Do the hard thing today, and you will thank yourself tomorrow.
