Let's clear up one of the biggest misconceptions in fitness. There is no such thing as "toning" a muscle. Muscles can only do two things: grow larger or shrink. That "toned" look you want is simply building lean muscle mass while reducing body fat so the muscle becomes visible.

The fitness industry loves to make nutrition complicated. It doesn't need to be. If you are trying to lose weight or build strength, you do not need to follow arbitrary rules about meal timing or demonize entire macronutrient groups. Your body doesn't store fat differently at 8:01 PM than it does at 7:59 PM. Carbs are your body's preferred energy source for training.
