Spectra: Peek Into the Process
Sunday, Aug 30th - 12:00-2:00 pm

Have you ever wondered how a choreographer takes something from concept to stage? Join us for an interactive rehearsal session with featured Spectra choreographer Meg Gourley. Meg Gourley This is a free chance to observe (and contribute to!) an Atlanta choreographer’s creative process in the studio. There will be opportunity for questions and conversation!

Funding for this program is provided by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners.

✨ ABOUT MEG ✨

Meg Gourley is a dance artist, choreographer, and educator whose work bridges performance, research, and community engagement. Recently residing in Atlanta and Milwaukee, she holds an MFA in Dance from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, a BFA in Dance and a minor in Anthropology from the University of Georgia, along with K–12 Dance Certification. She began her training at Decatur School of Ballet and has since studied with the Joffrey Ballet School, Staibdance, the Governor’s Honors Program, and the American Dance Festival. Her performance career includes international work in Costa Rica with Danza Universitaria and in Voronezh, Russia with the UGA Department of Dance. She has performed with Staibdance, Atlanta Dance Collective, Valleto Dance, Monica Hogan Danceworks, Patsy Collins, Emma Morris, and Decatur City Dance. Gourley was a company member with Kit Modus for seven seasons under the direction of Jillian Mitchell, performing works by Mitchell as well as guest choreographers including Christian Denise, Marco Palomino, Noelle Kayser, and Annalee Traylor.

✨ ABOUT EVAN ✨

Evan is an Atlanta-based dancer and choreographer. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance with a concentration in Ballet from Kennesaw State University. His training spans Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre, and Hip Hop, with early instruction at Rhythm Dance Center under the direction of Dani Rosenberg and Becca Moore. While at Kennesaw State University, Evan performed works by acclaimed choreographers Christian Denice, Leandro Damasco Jr., Lisa K. Lock, and Ivan Pulinkala. He has also performed professionally in “The Music Man” and “The Wizard of Oz” at City Springs Theatre Company, working with Baayork Lee, David Grindrod, Shuler Hensley, and Sara Edwards. As a choreographer, Evan’s work fuses contemporary fluidity with sharp, athletic movement, often rooted in conceptual exploration.
