You can remove every filter from your face and still be performing for approval.
You can post an unedited picture and still desperately crave validation.
You can show every flaw and still make yourself the center of the story.
So maybe the goal isn't to become completely unfiltered.
Maybe the goal is to become secure.
Secure enough in Christ that you don't have to hide.
Secure enough that you don't have to perform.
Secure enough to present your best without believing your best is what makes you valuable.
That's a different kind of authenticity.
And I think it's worth talking about.
I wrote more about this in my latest article: What If Being Real Doesn't Mean Being Unfiltered?

Your calling doesn't need everyone's approval.
Not your family's. Not your friends'. Not even other Christians who "mean well" but don't understand what God's put in your heart.
If you're waiting for everyone to get on board before you move forward, you'll be waiting forever.
God called you.
He equipped you.
He'll make a way for you—
even when others don't see it yet.
Take one step forward, even if no one else understands it.

I get some of my best ideas in the shower.
Seriously. 😂
It’s quiet. I can think. I used to play worship music and let the Word wash over me. And then I’d get out, start my day… and forget the idea completely.
My daughter finally told me, “Mom, you should just write it down.”
So I did.
And this particular shower thought took me into a much deeper conversation about authenticity, filters, appearance, and identity.
What does it actually mean to be “real”?
Does being authentic mean being completely unfiltered? Or can we present our best without pretending to be someone we’re not?
And underneath all of that:
Where is your identity rooted?
I wrote about it here:
And tomorrow in our Fireside Chat, we’re taking the conversation even deeper.
Because I think this question reaches far beyond how we show up online.
It reaches into how we show up in our businesses, too.
What would you do differently if you weren't trying to prove anything?
What Your Filter Is Really About
Explore the difference between being real, being unfiltered, and finding your identity securely rooted in Christ.

There’s a question I think Christians becoming entrepreneurs need to ask more often:
Am I building from what God put in my heart—or from what I think I’m supposed to build?
We’re really good at jumping to the hard work.
The offer.
The website.
The content.
The strategy.
The next thing.
But there’s heart work that comes before hard work.
So I put together 25 questions every called entrepreneur needs to ask—questions about calling, clarity, confidence, and momentum.
I made it for the person who knows there’s something God has put in them, but they're not quite sure what to do with it yet.
I’ll share it in the coming week..

You don't have to have the whole path figured out to take the next faithful step.
Sometimes we think clarity means knowing exactly where we're going.
Maybe it simply means knowing who we're following.
God doesn't ask you to see the whole road.
He asks you to trust Him with the step in front of you.
That's enough for today. 🤍

You’ve felt like just another name on a list. Another follower. Another lead. Another number in someone’s funnel.
But the Shepherd doesn’t call the crowd. He calls you.
He knows your name. And when He calls, He leads you out; out of the noise, out of the comparison, out of the waiting.
If you can’t hear His voice right now, it might just be too loud where you’re standing. Find a quiet ten minute, right where you are, and listen.
Who do you know that needs to hear this today? Tag them below.

You don’t need to secure the ground before you step. You need to trust the One holding it.
I know what it feels like to want every detail figured out before you move. The plan finished. The risk removed. The outcome guaranteed.
But that’s not how faith works. God rarely shows the whole path. He shows the next step.
Today, name one step you’ve been waiting to take until it feels safe. Then take it anyway, trusting the One who’s already holding the ground under your feet.
What’s the step you’ve been putting off?
Name it. Then take it and trusting the One who’s already holding the ground.

You can build something fast. You can build something big.
But if the foundation of your heart isn’t right, you’ll keep building on ground that isn’t ready.
Heart work comes before hard work.
That’s the principle we build everything on inside Foundation Builder — a community for Christians becoming entrepreneurs who are ready to do the inner work that makes the outer work last.
