It’s easy to put everything at the top of the “to do” list on a farm and not prioritize riding - or at least that’s the case for me. I ensure everyone else’s needs are met before my own.
👧🏼👧🏼🐴🐶🐱🐑🐓🚜🌱😜
But last weekend, (after maybe 6 months from a true ride) I carved out some time to remind myself why I work so dang hard. On Friday, Adelaide and I went for a trail ride at Otter Pond. Paddington has had some time off while we figure out how to keep his feet comfy but he was ready to rock for an adventure. I let him take the lead and at any opportunity to canter, he took it. There’s no better feeling being on that horse. It’s like breathing and I don’t even have to think about riding him. It feels like home with my Bear.
Saturday, we took a drive down to NH and joined the Wentworth Hunt Club on their summer hunter pace. I brought Crouton on the adventure and as always, he was ready to rocket. I love riding that pony. He makes me feel like a kid again.
It doesn’t have to be about equitation, the ribbons, or wearing a matchy matchy tack set. It can be able hootin’, hollerin’, flapping your reins telling your pony to gallop and remembering why you fell in love with God’s amazing creatures in the first place.

We had a late start to our show season but had a great time kicking it off at Lucky Clover!🍀
It was a step up year for Emilee in the 2’ division and Adelaide’s first time dipping her toes in the hunter-ring. Rosie had an impromptu, IHSA style pony swap, get in the ring without a warm-up and handled it with maturity far exceeding her age. I don’t think Crouton knew he had a rider on him for most of it, but he trotted around following traffic like a gentleman.

It officially feels like summer now that we had our first session of Happy Horsemanship Mini Camp!🥳
We had an awesome group of kiddos eager to learn, work together, and horse around, of course! Campers learn about tacking up, and riding. I was really proud of how everyone worked together to practice confidently leading the horses and even safely leading other campers. Teamwork makes the dream work!🙌🏼
Thanks to our enthusiastic counselors and kind horses, many campers have decided to return for our next session on July 22nd. Only 10 more days!!!🤩

I feel like I am literally and figuratively in the weeds. My busy season has begun which is such a blessing after the worst. winter. EVER. Life hasn’t slowed down one bit…
🌱Grass is growing which means mowing, mowing, mowing.
🌱Horses have shed their winter coats and their health shows through their gleaming coats.
🌱Events like birthdays, Ponies & Pastries, partnering with Avita of Stroudwater, hauling to see my little friends at Kids Go Eco, etc. are filling our days and making the weeks fly by.
🌱Horse show and summer camp season is on the horizon.
🌱I started a second job as the Director of Community and Outreach for MePowered Pastries’ non-profit; The Sprinkle Effect Foundation, which has completely overflowed my cup with gratitude.
🌱We are SO close to getting the garden started!!!
🌱Our baby chicks are starting to feather.
🌱Farrier days, vet appointments, hay deliveries, building, organizing, improving, and sometimes picking up Rosie from the bus on horseback.
🌱And I’m usually doing multiple of these things with at least one if not both wildflower daughters in tow.
I didn’t even advertise my summer camps this year and they are nearly FULL. If you sent an email recently inquiring about camp, I got it and apologies I have yet to respond. Please read the above to understand the delay. I wear many, many hats but thrive in the chaos. I WILL be getting back to you!
😅🐴👧🏼👧🏼🐣🐓🐑🚜☔️☀️🫶🏼
Here is a photo dump of all of the things as of recent. I cannot wait to see the magic that is made out here this summer! The weeds might be rampant but how blessed am I to be the gardener.👩🏻🌾🙏🏼

What an incredible opportunity to partner with Avita of Stroudwater! Jack and Paddington were such gentlemanly hosts as we all enjoyed the cool breeze flowing through the barn aisle. These lovely ladies got to meet some of our new baby chicks, too.🐥
I look forward to having these friends back to the farm soon! Next week, Maple, Peaches & I will be going on a field trip to Avita! We are looking forward to it.☺️

I’d like to wish a very happy SWEET 16 to Lila!🥳 And 🎉CONGRATULATIONS🎉on her new partnership with Capital Velocity aka “Cappie”!
Cappie has been here for less than 48 hours and I’ve already started calling him Cappuccino, Captain Crunch, Copernicus, Capybara… the nickname options are endless. He seems to be a very laid back and level headed dude. I can’t wait to fatten him up and watch this pair shine!
Lila, I don’t know many young women who have your work ethic and maturity. Name another teenager who feeds horses at the barn BEFORE school three times a week - rain, shine, snow or ice. I’ll wait.
Windsong is so blessed to have you as a vital part of our barn family and I’m excited to be there with you on this journey with your first horse. Thank you for all you do!! I love you!
