Where have all the Ashe County Monarchs gone??
Truly, this is the first monarch I’ve seen this year. Bittersweet really. So glad to see it, yet so sad that it’s the only one I’ve seen this year.
My personal goal for 2027 is to have a few monarch way stations around our 120 acres - and specifically one with a labyrinth to meander through and another along a nature trail that invites all kinds of pollinators and wondering wandering ponderers who feel lost and alone.
If you’ve got a green thumb or are willing to donate:
🌼 seeds or live plantings of native pollinator attracting perennial flowers and flowering bushes
🌱“baby” hosting (ei: milkweed) seeds or plants
🐦 Bird baths 💦
Mulch, flag stones, bricks
🪱 💩 Compost/mushroom dirt
Manual labor to create these areas
If this sounds like something you can do, or know someone who can … would you please consider liking this post, sharing this post, and contacting me to get on our volunteer contact list for when we are able to start to build and maintain these sustainable, beautification projects that benefit our whole community’s ecosystem.
We’d love to recognize you and honor you within these beautiful spaces as well with your names or initials beside your donations or your work. 💜
These spaces will undoubtedly benefit nature AS it nurtures those we serve. We have witnessed how nature soothes hurting souls and begins to become a powerful part of their healing story when nature reveals God’s goodness, compassion, and attention to the smallest details of the smallest lives - so how could He possibly not care for ours!
And oh how He connects humans in nature so that we get to be a part of one another’s healing journeys and stories AS we care for nature, too.
What a wonderfully beautiful orchestration we are being invited to … even if to save one Monarch butterfly … or even more beautiful … one human.
