Happy birthday to another of my favorite ALL-TIME Rangers, Buddy Bell!

Buddy Bell is one of the greatest third basemen in Texas Rangers history. Acquired from Cleveland following the 1978 season, Bell spent his absolute best prime years in Texas, solidifying his reputation as an elite defender and an excellent contact hitter. For his massive impact on the organization, he was inducted into the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame.

-Bell won six consecutive Gold Glove Awards from 1979 to 1984, sweeping his entire initial stint at third base with the Rangers.

-He earned four of his five career All-Star appearances (1980–1982, 1984) while wearing a Texas uniform.

-In his first year with the Rangers, he posted personal highs with a .299 batting average, 200 hits, and 101 RBIs.

Buddy had two separate stints with the franchise, playing from 1979–1985 before returning briefly to finish his major league playing career in 1989.

Baseball runs deep in the Bell bloodline, as they are one of only five families to have three generations play in the Major Leagues. Buddy is the son of former MLB outfielder Gus Bell and the father of former major league players and managers David Bell and Mike Bell.
