The Smelter City Scamper was our biggest event yet, and watching it all unfold felt incredibly special.
Hundreds of you showed up for yourself, for each other, and for your community. We watched people push themselves, cheer for strangers, cross finish lines with their families, and celebrate each other every step of the way. We saw first time racers, and season runners, people chasing time and people simply out there to have a good morning.
And that’s what we love most about this race. All of it is welcome!
We also know that not everyone got the race day they had been training for. Because of unsafe air quality, we made the difficult decision to cancel the half marathon. We know how much work and anticipation goes into preparing for 13.1 miles and we are genuinely sorry to everyone whose race was impacted. It wasn’t an easy decision, but keeping our runners and volunteers safe had to come first.
To everyone who ran the 5K and the 10K with us, thank you for trusting us with your race morning. Thank you for showing up, for giving it your best, for cheering each other on, and for making the streets of Anaconda feel alive.
The scamper is a fundraiser for the Anaconda Community Market , so every registration, sponsorship, volunteer hour, and mile helps us continue our work supporting local farmers, food access programs, SNAP Double Snap Dollars and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.
So this race really belongs to all of you.
