The more you do it, the harder it gets.

Yup. That’s exactly it. And the reasons are simple. The more you do Pilates and Barre:
•you move slower and more deliberately, increasing time under tension
•no short cuts, no momentum, just control and stability
•compensation? don’t know her. the intended muscles are doing the work
•experience = improved mind/body awareness with intentional breath & focus

The more you know, the better you get, even when it feels harder ;)

August is shaping up to be a busy month✨

Check back tomorrow for details about our pop-up on August 9th! It’s going to be a good one ;)

BODYlanguage has been on a hiatus with pop-ups and donation based classes as we had shifted our efforts into other areas BUT we are back! The best part? Not only do we love these classes as a way to build community, we also use them as a way to support the Abq community! Each class will create an opportunity for us to provide donations, physical or monetary, to a local establishment or person in need🩷 It’s what strong bodies & happy hearts is all about 🫶🏼

Recovery Flow—Tuesdays at 9:45am w/ Lauren Moore

It’s important to balance intensive strength and cardio exercise with active recovery. While stretching and resting are great, most stretching isn’t getting at the real reason you may feel stiff after exercise. This class focuses on mobility practices that include stretching, as well as yoga-based movement, and self-myosfascial release practices to help you consciously release knots and tension to improve recovery, circulation, and fluidity in your movement.

You will learn concepts about movement, such as the difference between flexibility and mobility, active vs passive stretching, why neuromuscular connection matters, and the important role of the connective tissue called fascia. Classes will include practices to release and hydrate fascia both with and without props, breathing practices to connect breath and movement, gentle yoga-based flows exploring ranges of motion, and more. The goal is to give you the knowledge and skills to relax with intention and to help your body recover more effectively, both in the studio and at home, so you can feel renewed and ready for your next barre or spin class!
