And Morgans cross well with just about any other type of horse.

No longer in business: Typey, athletic, versatile, traditional Morgan sport horses:1987-2016 bay mare Susans Chelsea; her son, 2000 bay stud > gelding Oldstyle Sport; and 2007 black mare Ragtime Angelique, both sold to ideal homes.. True-type Morgans such as ours make for: * compact dressage mount, * rugged stock horse, * superb carriage horse, or * reliable trail-riding partner.

Ah adventurous Archie the TB, reminds me of when our Oldstyle Sport was a c**t in Vermont and climbed up the ladder to the hay loft of his shed while he was trying to unscrew the overhead light bulb. Found it was green with Sport spit. Sort like the joke about various horse breeds: How many Morgans does it take to change a lightbulb.

A Tribute to Moondance ...

Sharing my riding instructor Judi Whipple's post about her big gray: "Moondance and Me… It has been since the waxing of the January snow moon that my heart broke with our last goodbye. I have chosen to fill the space Moondance left with gratitude for all he gave me while he lived.

The first thing he gave me when he arrived on the farm as a two year old, was a trip to the ER and several stitches. That began a relationship of several ups and downs, experimentations, and dream changes. Things may not have gone as originally planned, but they did lead to knowledge and success. Many thanks to Mr. Mischievous Moondance for teaching me that persistence pays off. Over the past 28 years, the lessons he taught me have benefited not only myself, but so many students, and other horses. The biggest awakening was showing me that trick training opens up a horse’s mind to learning. This learning leads to enjoyment in all handling and riding. Moondance became a talented dance and drill team partner, lesson horse, showman, and a benevolent leader and true friend to his pasture mates.

He was named after Van Morrison’s song “It’s a marvelous night for a Moondance”. He was known for sometimes breaking out of his pasture during a full moon and galloping around the farm. When next week’s full moon comes, could all those who knew and loved Moondance dream of one dance he gave you. It would also make me smile if you added a picture that you might have in the comments. Thank you Moondance for sharing your life with us. (You did good, bud, 30 years is a long go) ❤️"

Judi Whipple is the proprietor of Breckenridge Farm in Vermont. She studied with some greats: Sally Swift of Centered Riding fame and Jane Savoie. Judi was the instructor for the cadet equestrian drill team at Norwich College in Northfield VT, likely where this lovely photo was taken. Judi Whipple was one of the building blocks to get my heart horse Chelsea (the matriarch mare of Oldstyle Morgans) and me on track toward considerable accomplishments.
